Default Barrister & Mann : Diamond

I bought some of this soap a couple of weeks ago. Barrister & Mann said that it was going to be like being at a ball game. Wow! Does it deliver! It has the mixed scents of freshly cut grass, stadium soil, beer, leather, pine, cedar, popcorn, and caramel. The scent is like nothing that I have ever experienced. It had me hook..line..and sinker as soon as I opened the container and it just keeps getting better. I smell all of those scents and then some. The lather is typical of all Barrister & Mann, like cool whip. I do realize that it isn' t going to be everyones cup of tea but it has become my all time favorite shaving soap in a very short time.

Ok..the ranting and raving is over and I'm wondering what others have experienced with this soap.

I haven't tried that scent but I did get my first B&M soap recently, Beaudelaire. It too is a scent like no other I've tried, incredibly earthy. Unfortunately the scent is very mild and doesn't last long. I also find the lather doesn't last long in the bowl, I have to reload the brush between passes. It may be because I use hot water in my scuttle, do you use it that way or just in a bowl without heat? Otherwise the lather is quite nice.

I bowl lather without heat , no scuttle. I do use hot tap water to mix. Like they say, it is thirsty. If I load the brush with enouh soap, 45 seconds or so, I end up with more lather than I need for 3 passes.
Never had an issue with any Barrister & Mann drying out.

Yes, that's what I figured. I do extra loading of the brush and it lasts on the face but the heat in the bowl kills it, more so than other soaps.

I shave with a SRD scuttle and I have noticed the same issue with a couple of my soaps. Resolved by not putting hot water in the scuttle. Seems to be a quality of some soaps.

Hart - give no heat a try and let us know...
