Taconic soaps
Daughter bought me two types for Father's day. The Eucalyptus Mint, and their Lime. The Eucalyptus Mint is VERY fragrant, with a smell reminiscent of Vicks Vaporub. It gets your attention in a hurry, and really wakes up the sinuses. More importantly the stuff lathers like Mentos in Coke. Normally, with tallow soaps, I will rinse my brush and relather between passes. With this soap I just went back to the scalp and put on a fresh coat. I probably could have gotten three passes out of a 20 second "load", and I am going to try it with tonight's shave. I can see these tins lasting quite some time.

Thanked: 3225Thanks for the mini review of the Taconic soap, sounds good. When you say rinse your brush between passes do you mean rinses like most do at the end of a shave?

Yes. I literally dunk it in the water shake it out and relather all over again. With previous soaps there was never enough loaded to cover my whole head a second time, so I just figured that starting fresh, though a tad wasteful of the soap on the brush, was a better option for a Beginner, in terms of being consistent with one's lathering. With this stuff, I am going to try and load once tonight and just go for a full shave. Three passes and no relathers. I'll keep you posted.
Soap is glycerine based, though they make a point of mentioning that it is vegetable in origin for those sensitive to that sort of thing.

Thanked: 3225Thanks for clearing that up for me. It is whatever works for you. I face lather and do 4 passes. Normally I only load once and rinse when finished.
