    Default Vintage Colgate soap shave

Used to vintage Colgate puck soap this morning. Got a nice comfortable 4 pass shave in using a Muhle R41 and a Gillette Silver Blue blade with a few shaves on it. I did not soak the puck just loaded a damp synthetic brush and face lathered using cold water. The brush loaded and lathered easily enough. The lather produced was slick but not as voluminous as you'd get with Arko. Still the lather performance was more than good enough considering the razor used. It did perform better than the vintage Williams I used yesterday so likely the Colgate was newer/fresher and possibly stored better too.

I doubt either of the two vintage soaps will be in my regular rotation, they may even go in the trash.

I did find out what I wanted to know about them. I came to the conclusion that, when new, these were probably as good as any modern mass produced soap today made for the everyday Joe. That is taking into account their present poor condition and age.
