    Default Ingram Shaving Cream

    Hi All

I was back in Blighty the other week and decided to go take a look what Boots and Superdrug had for shaving soaps/cremes. I stumbled across Ingrams because it looked a bit more old school, and it had Menthol in it. So I have tried it a couple of times now, and I love it. Has anyone else come across it?

It goes onto the skin nicely and leaves a really nice mentol feeling while you are shaving, and for ages afterwards. The best thing is that it was £1.75 for a tube that looks like it will last me a year.

    Anyone else?

    Si

I used to use Ingrams, but that was way back 30 years ago, and I can't really assess what it would be like with a straight now. My dad used to use it, too, back before you could get foam in a can, and the early cans were pretty poor, as I recall. I might pick some up and give it a try.

Yeah I tried it back when I was using DE razors, I thought it was ok but I had so many luxury soaps/creams at the time that I ended up selling it on. It's similar to Proraso IIRC, but english.

My local chemist shop sells it, but you don't often see it in the big supermarkets. They do 2 types as far as I know, lather cream in a (blue) tube, and brushless cream in a (green) tube.

I did a quick check in my local branch of Boots today - which is rather a small one. No Ingrams, I am afraid, but they did have two different flavours of own brand brushless shaving creme ("Freshwood" and "Old Cologne"), plus an own brand soap in a plastic bowl.

I picked up two Boots brand styptic pencils for £1.49 each, and a peculiar bottle of Bay Rum, also Boots brand, for £1.99, with instructions for use as a hair tonic! Smells pretty close to my Trumpers Bay Rum.

I also noticed that on their bottom shelf they had a selection of Old Spice, Tabac, Jovan and Brut after shaves. An amazing selection, really, and very nostaligic (not in a good way - I like Old Spice, and thoroughly detest Jovan).

I bought a bottle of that and for several days I was using it as an a/s splash. I was pretty unimpressed and every time I used it was thinking "I know it was cheap but this a/s splash is bloody horrible" - then one day I read the bottle and noticed it was a hair tonic not an a/s splash.

It's a shame Boots just stock the other Tabac products, basically everything except the shaving soap!
