Thanked: 2Chiseled Face Sampler Ordered
I just ordered the Chiseled face sampler and looking for the next company to order from. Maybe it's just me, but my dad, grandfather and uncles all have a scent; if you know what I mean. If I walk into a room they had been in recently I know who was there. It's almost like a business card left behind. So I'm looking for my scent. Probably sounds cheesy, but we'll see what happens.

Thanked: 4The scent I always go with is the scent the wife loves the best! She absolutely adores my face with the castle Forbes lime shaving cream on it. Now I just need to pick up the castle Forbes lime aftershave! Expensive, but I guess for my wife's effection it's worth it! :-).

Thanked: 2Well I got them in yesterday. Invoice shows 10 samples, but I received 11 samples and two Starburst candies with it. I must say there are some good scents in there. Trade Winds is pretty nice as well as Summer Storm and Ghost Town Barber. I could certainly pick one of these scents to stick with, but I think I'll try one more sampler from another company just cause. First shave with them will be in a few moments and we'll see how it goes.

I used my Ghost Town Barber today. You will like these soaps Charlie! I also tried another one of his aftershaves, Sherlock. I like it too.............

Thanked: 2Here's a newbie review of my Chiseled Face shaving soap experience. Please keep in mind that, again I'm new. My technique could easily be the blame for the failure of any mentioned products and is intended to be just my "new guy" experience. For the record I have been shaving with the same straight everyday for 7 weeks, yes I like it that much! For all I know I'm using the incorrect motion, (clock wise instead of counter clock wise) with my badger brush to build my lather....IDK.
It was a pretty good shave. I found it super easy to lather, in fact I almost felt as though I used too much soap. I took my pinky and scrapped just a little out of the sampler (roughly dime sized) and put it in my cup<----(new guy forgot technical term for "CUP"). My boar brush had been drained of most the water and waa la! A thick lathery foam that was nice and slick. I chose Trade Winds this morning and love the scent. It's subtle, but I caught myself catching a whiff of it off and on most of the morning and enjoyed it. I thought I used too much as I was applying it to my face in my circular motion it got thicker and eventually found lather dripping on the sink as I applied it. At the end of the shave I found myself rinsing a lot out of the cup and down the drain. Maybe I screwed that up? IDK
It would have been a great shave if my left hand hadn't gone completely retarded on my ATG pass and nicked my cheek. Soooo glad the forum wasn't there to point and laugh. Again not the shaving soaps fault. I clearly blamed the windage in the bathroom with the vent on. I've been using Pacific Shaving Co's all natural shaving cream. Don't get me wrong, it's a quality shaving cream, but this recent trial has kinda opened my eyes on what's available. There's no doubt I had to use more of the Pacific cream to attain the rich lather I got with Chiseled face. The Chiseled face also seems to be much slicker.
Ok be ready...I felt like the skin had a bit more burn to it when I applied my normal after shave lotion, Nuetrogena something or other. Same After shave I'd been using this whole time. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't uncomfortable or anything like that, just a bit more noticeable. Again...I'm no pro at this, maybe my angle was a bit off this time, as it sometimes tends to be, going ATG. Maybe I used the spine of the straight, na surely not.
All in all I'm really enjoying this experience. I never thought I'd wake up and look forward to shaving. Being in the military you don't have the option of skipping a day or two and can make the experience tiresome, but this has truly woken me up. I am quite fond of my first sampler pack and absolutely love how thick, slick and scents Chiseled Face has to offer. As a new guy to this I will undoubtadly try another company....after I've used the sample I got at least a few times.

Thanked: 2
I too have the Ghost Town and Sherlock scents. Both of which are in my, "To try stack". Love the smell of them both, even Redneck; but I love a leather smell. The only scent I smelled that I refused to try was banana...REALLY? I've never tried their After Shave....interesting.

Thanked: 20I have been using CF soaps almost as soon as he went live on Etsy. I have to agree with the burn though. I think my face may be a tad sensitive to the fragrance oils Ron uses in his formulas, and perhaps your's is as well. Ron is a great soapmaker and very nice businessman who is receptive to feedback. I message him frequently on Facebook and he replies quickly!
I asked him to consider coming out with a scent free version of his soap, so lets keep our fingers crossed. His soaps are truly amazing and I hate not being able to use them due to the sensitivity issue.
Two soaps I have had ZERO issue with are Sandalwood and Sherlock. Hopefully you'll have the same experience

Thanked: 2That's interesting. Thanks for the info! I'll give Sandalwood a shot tomorrow and see what happens. As always I'll let you all know if I notice a difference. I'm positive my skin is a bit sensitive, but not so much that I couldn't continue to use the Trade Wind scent. Now if Sherlock or Sandalwood cause zero irritation....well then, bonus!

Thanked: 2So I used Sherlock this morning and still got a burn. I'll be honest, I got my razor through Heritage and wonder if it was truly shave ready. It shaved great at first, but I'm kinda wondering if my tech is bad or my blade wasn't quite sharp enough. Who knows? I'll be ordering a new blade soon, sending my old one off to be honed, then ordering my stones to hone my own. We'll see. Still love the scents and slickness, but certainly a bit more saucy than my previous brand. Again, nothing I can't deal with...just an observation.
