I would never (ever) soak a puck of soap overnight. I think that there are very few soaps that gain any benefit at all from any form of pre-soaking; and even for them I only put on (at most) a teaspoon of water on the puck before I shower and then when I am ready to use the soap, if there is any water still on the surface of the puck, I dump that water into my lathering bowl.
I will never understand this habit of pouring unused soap, in the form of unused soapy water (aka, white slimy stuff), right down the drain.
Papabear11: I am NOT criticizing you. You can do anything you want with your soap. I simply disagree with your method.
