To be honest, if a soap or cream needs help to perform it's out of my den. I try my best to live by the KISS principal.

Thanked: 5I think the intention behind the thread got lost a bit. The argument I had in my head was something like this:
- Uberlather is created by mixing shaving cream, shaving soap, and glycerin
- Uberlather, then, basically contains twice the amount of product required
- Therefore, a similar lather should be possible by using either twice the amount of cream one usually uses or loading the brush twice the time one usually takes to load the brush

Or just a thought,, You use less of each product, to produce the same amount of lather but a better lather
At least that is my goal,,
The Uberlather should be Creamier, Slicker and have a better effect on the face after the shave, or it is simply not worth the effort..
Again "All Recipes do not accomplish this" Some are just a mixture of products that do nothing for each other..
Also for me this is the only part of this hobby that the wife actually shares, if I make up a English Garden Lavender Uber (TOBS Lavender soap + CF Lavender Cream) or something else that tickles her nose she is all over it..
According to her the good Ubers condition her legs better than anything else..

Thanked: 3215So it all depends on the water, the soap or cream and the shave you are after.
Water and soap are no brainers, the shave is personal. I have found the wettest lather works best for me. Lather that is just thick enough to keep from running down the blade and on to my hand is what I shoot for. I keep adding hot water to the brush tip from the faucet, till it starts to run and shake it off the excess water.
Lather does two thing, lubricate and hydrate the beard, the more water the better, dry, fluffy lather sucks.
Glycerin works, especially with hard water. We move recently and the water here is not as hard as the water I had before, where I used glycerin daily. A couple drops of Glycerin will give you more body and slickness.
I have been using a Glycerin cream as a preshave, Trader Joe’s Honey Mango shave cream, comes in a large tube, about 6 bucks and apply a nickel size dollop on a wet face then get my gear together and strop a razor. I then face lather over that with MDC, great lather, slickness and a very wet cream, a nice shave. I use a double boiler, type scuttle just to keep my brush warm and wet.
In essence I’m doing what you are asking but on my face, with my goal to get as wet a lather, with slickness as possible.
