Thanked: 55Lanolin soap without tallow?
Really want to try a lanolin soap. Unfortunately am sensitive to tallow. Ordered haslinger recently and it also contains tallow. Will still try at some point anyway. But expecting the same burn and irritation as from MWF. Does anyone know of a lanolin soap without tallow?

Thanked: 351There are basically 2 kinds of soap, tallow based and vegetable oil based... One of the two is required for lye to saponify it, and thus make a soap. Lanolin is not technically a fat or oil and so it would not make a soap by itself, it must be added to a soap base which goes back to either tallow (often called triple milled) and the vegetable oil or glycerine types. Perhaps there is a Mama Bear or other small shop that has lanolin added to some of their soaps?
Plan B would be to purchase some lanolin and simply place a few drops on top of a soap that does not bother you and lather it up that way. Several gents use glycerine in that manner.
That is about all I can think of, off the top of my balding head.

Thanked: 4I believe RazoRock now has lanolin in some of their new soaps including Tuscan Oud and The Dead Sea. Some of their soaps do have tallow, but these two do not. I'm not sure if they are the only ones with lanolin without tallow.

Sapone di Paolo is an excellent veggie-based soap with Lanolin and other wonderful butters and the scents are extremely well done! Furthermore, Paolo is a superb gentleman to deal with!
