It appears that Obie's reviews, and our community's lust for good shave soap, has had an effect over at Oleo. I visited the site hoping to pick up a puck of the Old Orchard Cider and it appears that the only shave soap she currently has available is the Fiera. I guess I'll have to wait until she restocks!

I am writing out my email interview questions for Oleo soapmaker and owner Vida Perez Velasquez. I am looking forward to meeting the lady. The interview should be in at SRP, hopefully, in the next two weeks. I'm glad the soaps are selling. Good stuff.

    Gentlemen,

Vida Perez Velasquez, the soap maker from Oleo Soapworks, has joined the forum. We are honored to have her here. I'm sure we can learn quite a bit from her.

    Obie,

It's awesome to see one of the makers actually interested enough to sign up and participate in the forum.

That scores very high marks in my book.

Upon your recommendation, and what others have said, I have a tub of Northerly Island on the way.
It would be great if you and anyone else could bring your Oleo soaps to the Meetup at Daves so we could give them a sniff and see what scents we like.

Well it seems as if forum members have cleaned out the Oleo Soapworks inventory.

My son lives a block away from Irving Park and I will be trying some of Vida's products as they come back in stock.

    My comments on Oleo Soapworks...
If I had to use one word it would be

    SLICK!!!!!

I've never had an issue with holding onto a razor. I don't hold it with a death grip but I hold on as I've never dropped one yet, Knock on wood! This soap gets on your fingers and anything you touch will slip. Amazingly slick stuff. I'd say it beats out MDC when it comes to slick, but thats just my opinion. Lathers up really nicely. I enjoy the building of lather on my face but this stuff didn't take much work at all. Not as easy to build as MDC. As you can tell MDC is my top fav. But this stuff is making MDC shake in its place in my rotation of soaps.
I used the Windy City Barbershop tonight and most of you know that my nose is not the best when it comes to scents. This stuff did have a nice barbershop scent and I also noticed a pine scent in it too. It was enjoyable and I'll use it a few time this week before I try the other one I bought, El Caballero. I took a sniff of it but it seemed to complex for me to pick any one scent out of it.

As far as cushion I dont think its as good as MDC. Close. A very close runner up. Now just keep in mind that
I'm no shave soap guru. I know what feels good to me and what works well (MDC). Also know what dont work for me (Tabac). And these are just my opinions so do what you want with it. Now I cant wait to get some of that Dr. Harris so I can compare.
    It's just Sharpening, right?
    Jerry...

I've kept up fairly well with this thread but don't recall - did anyone comment about where WhollyKaw tallow soaps with donkey milk would rate?

I have some samples from this company I am slowly going through and am impressed thus far with their scents and lather quality.
