Thread: My 2 cents on WM Neuman soaps

For those that would like to try these soaps I have noticed on the 2 scents I have, 1911 and Peppermint clove I believe it seems IMO that they have a "break in" period. I don't have many soaps to really compare but it seems as if it takes 5 or 6 lathers before they really lather well and perform well. I guess I am putting this out there as my findings because I have read/ heard that they are bad or poor soaps that don't lather and I just want to say they do in fact lather it just takes a few times. I personally like the 2 shave soaps I have from them and really have not noticed any performance issues so give em a try if you are looking for a different soap and enjoy.

I have noticed over the years some pucks lather differently after the initial use. It usually is a degradation in the lathering but I see no reason an improvement in lathering could also happen.

The only reason I can think of is certain elements in the soap rise to the top as it dries. Of course, it could just be my technique and has nothing to do with the soap.

I have realized now that I no longer judge a soap on its first 3 or 4 uses. It does seem apparent that a soap doesn't fully reveal itself for the first few uses.

This thought crystallized for me recently using the C&S 88 - have used it three times now, and it getting better with each use.

If you want to get around the break in period, grate the soap. It will instantly become heroic.

Well I am glad I am not the only one that has noticed this. At first I thought it was me being new to making lather then I started to read reviews and I thought well maybe it is not me. Then after several uses BAM it just makes great lather

I've never used their soaps, but I have the 1911 cream. The glide is unmatched by anything I have in my collection, and the scent is great.
