Thread: AOS sandalwood soap

My wife bought me AOS sandalwood shave soap the other day and I used it today along with their sandalwood pre shave oil and AS balm. Wow that is a nice soap! Nice lather and great scent, and seemed to give plenty of protection during shave on the 2 passes I do. Long lasting scent as well.

It was the first soap I had bought in my straight shaving venture, up until then I had been shaving with Palmolive and sone pucks f Old Spice for 40 years with my DE. Found this sight and wanted to straight shave and just had to have something new, so AOS to the rescue, got the sandalwood and away I went.

I was pretty happy with it till I got the bug, so yes you have done fine and you won't need to change if your so inclined, but for me I,ve found better, and AOS. Does charge a little bit more than a comparable soap. But you got to love the scent on it its one of the sandal woods that I like. Just remember soaps like most things in this venture are YMMV. Glad you like it. I guess what I,m saying us as long as a guy can get on the computer the next soap is just a short walk to the mailbox! Tc

Oh yes I have a couple WM Nuemann soaps and they honestly took about 5 lathers per jar to get "broke" in to get a good lather IMO. This stuff right out of the box was great IMO. You are correct so much of this stuff is YMMV. It is a great scent though, really has stuck with me I kinda think it helps that she got me like a sandalwood starter kit from AOS. SO every layer is the same scent. I do enjoy opening a new scent though TC, like a kid trying to dig it out of the package to smell it

The cream is excellent as well. If you can get on eBay and find the older AoS soap before the formula change, you will love it even more! Happy shaving!

Yup, great soap used it for years. To make it last longer, scoop out a ½ in X ½ in snurdle in a warm mug, with a drop or two of Glycerin for a mug full of rich slick lather. Don’t leave any water in the tub, it will melt your cream.

A tub, does last, a long time.

A good buy, great soap and super sent.

Just learned the term snurdle the other day thanks to you fells ; D my wife actually got me a Muhle lather bowl, black with a silver trim and a "refill" puck. The puck actually doesn't fit the I.D. of the bowl should I have cut the puck up? I am used to tubs so learning curve on the lather bowl. I been wanting to pick up some Glycerin just never think of it at the store so I never get any : D Great advice though thanks Euclid440

Um Euclid I think I just had a moment of clarity, correct me if this is wrong please. So now that I have a lovely bowl I can take a snurdle and scoop an amount of soap from said tubs and make lather with only that amount of soap? That seems like a really good way to not have wasted amounts of lather or materials.

I just tried this for the first time recently too. I love it! The lather was fantastic! I guess it's made by Procter and Gamble. They nailed that one.
