Thanked: 135This soap is not a favorite of mine by a long shot. I keep waiting for the lather to be fantastic and, from my experience, it is middle of the road; nothing special at all. The scent is awful to my nose; even Tabac (which produces a superior lather to no. 88) has a more tolerable scent.
But, obviously, this is a well regarded soap. What makes this activity so fun!

I'm with you on that one - really disappointed with that one. The Oxford and Cambridge was much better IMO.
The 88, to me at least, has a barely perceptible scent, and I can't get past the fact that to me it almost smells like wax? Not great in the performance factor either...
Oh well, that's what makes this hobby great, one persons MDC is anothers Williams, or Pinaud....
