Thanked: 0My best combination for every day shave
I use a Sandalwood scented soap. I just like the smell of that fragrance is all. but I use high quality soaps in my mugs. I have 3. One is empty for the use of creams from time to time.
but back to it. After I start to get some lather in the bowl, I quickly add an amount of Glycerin used in soap making (VEGETABLE) get my brush warm again quickly and then lather that up just before going on to my face.
That gives my lather a LONG lasting slick surface on my face, as well as protects my skin a bit.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else had success with this method.

Bob,
The way I do my uber lather is to mix soap with cream, add five drops of glycerin and then create a luxurious lather in the scuttle. Good stuff. I don't do it all that often, though, because my top line soaps and creams don't need that.Last edited by Obie; 04-22-2016 at 08:33 PM.

Addition of glycerin to me always seemed like cheating - that the soap/cream should stand on it's own, and should be expected to perform on it's own, in my humble opinion of course.
Personally, if I pay a premium price for a soap, I expect a premium product....that's why I enjoy Obie's soap/cream threads...just never could see myself adding the glycerin.
On another note, doesn't the glycerin really, really dry out your skin?

I'm with Phrank. I only use products that perform well, and therefore don't need to be mixed with glycerin.

Thanked: 60I never add anything. Just use good product. If you need to add tons of stuff time might be better invested trying products that work better for you.
