I have most of the DR Harris soaps in hard puck, and as mentioned, there scents are subtle but absolutely there.

I find loading the brush, a couple of swishes in the scuttle, and then letting the soap rest for a minute or two allows the soap to fully develop, I find this benefits most soaps.

The Windsor is by far my favorite, the Marlborough is very subtle and full, and I find the Arlington rather sweet smelling, Top Tier soaps all of them in my opinion.

D.R. Harris does really have great soaps. Equal of any other soap out there that I've tried.

I've never had a problem smelling my puck of Arlington, and love the scent, but I ordered a sample of Marlborough aftershave and could barely detect any smell when I used it.

    Gentlemen,

    D. R. Harris soaps have subtle fragrances. For me, such subtlety adds to their overall quality. I don't want to be blown out of the shave den. I find many quality French soaps also have subtle fragrances. Some of the Italian soaps and creams, on the other hand, come with overwhelming fragrances. So do many American artisan soaps. In many cases, too much is, well, too much. The D. R. Harris soaps are well balanced in every way.

Obie, you should try the Tremonia Scottish soap. Not only will you be blown out of the shave den but you will probably pass the city limits and wind up on the south side of Chicago before you stop.

    Spendur,
I did try it Meisner Tremonia Scottish soap, and it did chase me out of shave den. Talk about overdoing a scent, for heaven's sake. I didn't find the scent offensive; rather, it overwhelmed the senses. It was just too much. What's more, the coloring used in it made a mess of my face towels — I change those daily. Finally, it set my face on fire.

I have taken another crack at my puck of Marlborough. I now can detect a very faint, kind of "clean" scent. Pleasant enough. Great lather.

Not sure if my smeller wasn't working well or if the puck is more aromatic after being used 3 or 4 times.

Also re-reading this thread reminded me of trying Opus X from Straight Razor Designs. Really full, not overwhelming, but prominent tobacco scent, which I really like. I would get it again. My problem is I really like variety, so even if I find something I really like, I still am compelled to not keep getting the same thing over and over.

I almost wish shaving soap would not last as long as it does! I wouldn't be sad if I *needed* to get a new puck every month.

I totally know what you mean. I find I can never get through some tubs, especially the 200 - 250ml sizes!
