    Default Sensitive-ish dry skin advice.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good soap/face wash that will help with dry skin and acne. Something gentle that won't strip all of my natural oils like detergents but will still do a good job of cleansing bacteria to hopefully mitigate acne. My face tends to get dry skin easily even with using a Neutrogena moisturizer after.

    Best wishes,

    JT

I have a good product for you to try, that is available widely, but I can't remember the name. Some sort of udder cream or lotion in a red and white package. I do believe Hirlau's son was using it to help with acne with success. Basically, it's an antibacterial lotion, which should solve all of your problems. Haven't tried it myself yet, can't find the thread it was in....

You are close dinnermint. It's called Udderly Smooth, udder cream. Originally developed to keep cow's teats from chafing during milking. Widely used, now, by people that need smooth hands. Many quilters use it to keep thread from snagging on dry skin. Many shavers have now been using it as a pre-shave.

    Comes in tub and tube.

I can't overstate the success it has had with my son's acne,, it's been about 2 months now & at least an 85% decrease in his acne.

Thanks for that advice everyone! So would the udderly smooth be used as a preshave in place of using oil? I'm assuming rub it in after a shower and then lather and shave? Do you have any advice for a face wash too to use in the shower though? I have a lush near me and have heard good things, have any of you used a lush product?

I use it on occasion, just before I lather my face. Sometimes I use coconut oil, but generally have stopped using any pre-shave.

I have an ex-gf that was huge into their stuff. I saw no real benefit from the two face soaps that I used. One was a pinkish/herbal crumbly one that was okay and the other was a black charcoal like-thing that dried my skin out like none other. Using oil as a pre-shave might be part of your acne problem. Although, they can cut small chunks for you to try out, worth a shot at least. They can be expensive, if that is an issue. I use Dr. Bronner hard soap for everything; wash face, then use hair conditioner in my beard in the shower beforehand and it seems to work pretty good. You could skip the conditioner and go with udderly smooth or do both. I tried the liquid, but I didn't like it. I think it is not supposed to make any suds?

Dove for Men moisturizing face wash or Noxema classic. Many shavers misunderstand washing their face before shaving. The importance of cleansing with a moisturizing cleanser before shaving is to remove the topmost layer of surface oil, dying skin cells, and dirt so that the shaving products we use will penetrate the epidermis. Shaving damages our skin by exposing the surface of the epidermis to environmental elements. Moisturizing both before and during the shave is essential to limiting skin damage and producing a healthy shave. Using good quality products helps us achieve this and using skin healing products after we shave prepares our skin for the next shave.
Often acne problems are caused by our skin producing too much oil. A good quality moisturizing cleanser will help with acne issues.

Thanks everyone for all of your sound advice! I think I'll check out noexema classic for a face wash and try the udderly smooth for moisturizer pre shave! I just got some goodies I'll post about!

    Ozarkedger,

On amazon I found two noexemas. Should I use the noexema classic clean moisturizing cream or the noexema classic clean cream original deep cleansing?

    Thanks,
    Jt
