Thanked: 0Lush Prince Shave Cream
Hi All,
Im new here and have been reading the treads about what shave creams you guys use and recommend.
Just thought id post and share an experience.
When i got into DE shaving a few year ago (Merkur 34C - Feather Blades) I've always used Truefitt & Hill, Lemon pre-shave oil and Almond shaving cream, so naturally when i progressed into SR shaving i used what i had. Not knowing or using any different. Always felt like a good close shave.
After watching several videos on honing and stropping a (well respected person, I'm sure) mentioned what he uses as a shave cream stating it was more of a lubricant than a foam, cream or soap.
Naturally i looked into it and found it to be very inexpensive compared to what i have been using so decided to give it a try....
Well, being very new into SR shaving and just starting to learn to hone my own razors i was ver surprised at the quality, feel and comfort of this cream.
The razor used was a non shave ready Kropp, from eBay for about £6 ($10) I gave it the quick once over on a 6K King waterstone, finishing it off with a 12K Naniwa that had just been delivered, a light strop on both Dovo red and black paste and finished off with 15 laps on a nice leather stop.
Now unlike other creams and soaps, this Lush Prince cream, does not lather up like normal creams or soaps and is to be applied to the face by hand, well fingers actually!!
Its goes on a little like warm butter and has a very slight orange smell about it!
Now I'm sure that my sharpening skills won't be anywhere near as some of those on here but that Prince cream sure helped the razor glide over my skin..... whats more, after a couple of passes, i was left with a very smooth shave and NO irritation whats so ever..... I've never experienced that before!!!!
So to conclude, unless my sharpening skill have suddenly become on par with the seasoned pro's over night or this cheap shave cream really is good!
Id love for other users to try it and post their thoughts and feelings on this thread!
Best wishes and smooth shaves to all!
Thanks
Ian

Glad you like it, but if I have to go without the brush I may as well go back to canned goo. I've tryed the rub in stuff on a couple of occasions, so it's not for me. Tc

Thanked: 3225Surprisingly some of the brushless stuff will lather with a brush and some will not. I have a nice jar of Kyoku that won't lather with a brush so it is going in the garbage as it does nothing for me as a preshave even.

I'm afraid you won't find many fans of brushless shave cream on this site. Some folks might use them for travel but even the ones that can be brushed aren't really up there.

I'll be the devil's advocate. When I am super rushed for a shave, which hasn't happened in ... years, I will use some brushless. I have burt's bees stuff, the scent is on the woody end of the spectrum and it's works well for me.

Thanked: 3225No doubt brushless creams can and do work but then so does using Ivory bath soap bars. Anything will do in a pinch but using a real shave soap and a brush is just so much better for me that even in a rush I will lather up with a brush and real shave soap.

Thanked: 171Lush; isn't that the brand that usually keeps their store doors open and the anything but subtle soap smell makes you walk on the other side of the street?
The few times that I braved the cheap soap stench and walked into one of their stores I found nothing of interest.
A soap has to offer more than just an all-out frontal attack on my olfactory organs to get me interested.
