Thanked: 2Allergic reactions shaving soap
Hi, I tried a new shaving soap (Taylor of old Bond street "lime scent" ) and it started burning as soon as it hit my neck and I figured I have some cuts where it stings or something, but they the time i was done shaving my neck was so burned and red I count even touch it, never seen the likes with anything else I've tried, it litterly burned the skin on my neck like a bad sunburn would, guess it would be worth investing in a sample pack, since I just trew $15.50 away on soap I can't use, anybody else have a similar experience ?

Thanked: 4822Nothing that extreme. I have had soaps that are not comfortable on my neck, like they are too hot or something. It feels to me like too much lye and it has the wrong PH. Likely your can easily find someone to give that soap to as it is a popular brand. I have mostly had that problem with small makers or artisan soaps. I try to stick with known brands. The Italians have been making some nice and affordable soaps for a really long time. Samples is a really good plan. Find some one or maybe a small group and do a soap exchange.

There are several sites that sell samples, ranging in price from $2 to $7 for the higher end soaps. I know Obie has referenced a similar or same issue with some popular soaps. Since you have had this issue I would lean towards sensitive or unscented soaps, until you find something you are happy with. It may have been the concentration of citrus is too strong for your skin.

Think about donating to the "SRP Giveaway" and 'Pay it forward'.
Contact str8razor/Bill for assistance.
Thanks for the offer of giving donations to the giveaway. Soaps, creams, and things like that should be unused or very slightly used. Liquids like aftershaves and oils can be used up to a point. If these soaps and liquids are slightly used and don't show it they can be used but that will be determined by me after I receive it. I mean like a half bottle of aftershave won't work. Use your discretion, would you like to have received it.
Razors, stops, hones etc. can be used but need to be in reasonably good condition. If they are not sharpened I will sharpen them. If they need a little cleaning I can do that also. I know that these articles are free but they also don't need to be junk which will reflect on SRP's character. BillShave the Lather...

Ah, knowing that sandal wood is okay makes things easier.
What other soaps have you used?
I would recommend the giveaway or posting it for trade in the classifieds.

Thanked: 2I have The Blades Grim (Reaper) and that's a pretty mild soap, I was actually somewhat impressed with it, Mild scent, Mild soap but does the job. Quick and easy to leather up and comes with its own container. That way u don't mix them up if you have more soaps in various containers

Any soap with Almond in it not only makes me gag, but I'm sure it irritates my skin as well.
Many soaps with great reputations I've wanted to try, soon as I see Almond....I'm out....the Boellis Panama 1924 while a superb soap, was one I was very disappointed I couldn't use, as it's a superb, lather bursting, incredible Tier 1 Soap...you win some, you lose some.
