Grocery store soap find.
While grocery shopping Sunday I stumbled upon some locally made shave soap pucks. Surprised me cause it's normally just the same old stuff. This company is small an local but they make a wide variety of soaps an herbal stuff. Went through the different scents they offer. Have to say that on scent I'm impressed. Even swmbo liked them. They offer bay rum, patchouli, an ocean scent very similar to Latoja. An a couple other that were only labeled with initials. Since I'm a addict for soaps an creams I am not in need of any at the moment. But plan on giving one of these pucks a try. Any one else find any local soaps that aren't readily available elsewhere ?

That's really cool. My grocery store has like one obligatory Williams puck that's been sitting there for years as far as I know. I will have to be on the lookout more often now. I'll stay tuned to see how well they work for you...

I found a local that makes bar soap. The tallow component is high! I have used it for bath and tried it for shave. It was great for my face but did not have enough lather to work well. I still got a good shave but will not use it again for shaving.
So:
If the tallow is high and the folks have added a lathering component, a great shave may be had.

PS. Some local "super" soaps are just from craft shop kits.Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Thanked: 171Yes, I did.
Was intrigued, scent was nice enough, bought it out of curiosity, but performance was just average.
I was not entirely surprised, as I had not expected a small local soap company with only limited experience in a highly specialized product like shaving soap to turn out an above average product.
Was worth a try, but didn't even finish the soap.
With so many excellent products around, I see no point in wasting time with one that falls obviously short of what I have already.

I've found two at our local farmers market. One is great (I already posted about it) and one was... not.
