Was told, MDC is now packaged in a plastic Jar, I bought the last of the glass, in lavender locally.

Wonder if it will change the soap, hope not…

Hope it will reduce the retail price a bit, but probably not.

About a month ago, I was in Old Town Shaving, in Pasadena, to pick up some soap. They told me about the switch to glass and had both jars in stock with 2 glass jars left of the original, lavender.

So I bought them, the rest of their stock is in plastic. The jars look identical, but if you tap them with metal, you can tell the glass from the plastic by the sound.

The Fougere was all in plastic. I bought a jar, but haven’t used it, as I still have half a jar in glass.

Having dropped an MDC glass jar once, I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer the plastic. I always kept a turn of cloth gaffer's tape around the jar after that.

As far as your soap preferences, use what you like, no need to apologize or justify. All shaving soap is cheap except relative to other shaving soaps.

    Cheers, Steve

As a longtime WIlliams user and recent dual soaping with Arko, I just added MdC to my counter. Tried it this morning on a 3-day beard. One pass with the Hart and I'm done. Nice smell, face lathers well, and a good close shave. I like it so far.

Worth it? That's subjective. Would you rather use a well honed Gold Dollar or a well honed W&B? They both do the job.

You guys got me excited about arko, hence I ordered a 12 pack from amazon. Tried it last night and when I came to bed my wife said "did you use something different, you smell like old people". So, I guess I have 11 bars of arko to evangelize wet shaving with.

Good one. I guess the boss and I are old people so no one notices. Never noticed the scent of Arko after I put on my AS though. Aside from that little glitch how did it perform as a shave soap?

NittanyGator, my wife said my Nivea aftershave balm makes me smell like an old man so I know where you are coming from.

I grated up my Arko stuck and pressed it into a shaving mug. It has lost a lot of lemony antiseptic scent and just kind of smells like ivory soap now.
