A Soap By Any Other Spelling...
Meissner, MeiBner or Meißner (alt+keypad 0223) is a soap paste to reckon with. I splurged and bought a tub of Meißner Wild Oranges. Ya really get your money's worth with this one, 6.8 fl oz. Have a feeling that even with consistent use it will last a decent time before needing replacement.
As usual I used three different brushes - Boar, Badger and horsehair and very warm, lukewarm or cold water and my 5/8 Gotta bellied razor. A small amount whips up almost instant lather making enough for several passes. Glide like I haven't had with almost any previous soap and very nice cushion.
Now, aroma. My deficient nose had a holiday with Wild Orange. I opened the jar (nice glass jar that can be reused for various things) and took a deep, long sniff. It was like opening an air tight container that had a bunch of perfectly ripe oranges in it with some, to my nose, deep woodsy added scent. I think I spent several minutes totally absorbed wallowing in this all enveloping smell. Treated my self, while shaving by rubbing some of the lather into my moustache where I could have a steady intake of the aroma. In some way, if I could have needed a 10 pass shave I would not have been put off by the length of time it would take to do all those passes.
Bottom line, a soap to add to a permanent roster of soaps, croaps and creams.

Thanked: 26Great review-- this is a brand I have never really thought of trying but now I will!
Just to make sure -- you mention early on you have the "soap paste", right? Not the hard soap?Steve

Thanked: 14When I stopped in to SRD last summer, I bought one of Meissner Tremonia's shaving pastes by accident. It turned out to be a great accident as I consider it one of my best performing. The cushion is excellent and the glide superb. I find the scent of the lavender deluxe to be wonderful also.

Many of the scents are not the usual flowery syrupy types you find in other soaps. I've described them as being "adult" scents. The dark limes is about the most perfect example. It's nothing like any other lime out there. Most either hate it or love it. What also sets them apart is the ingredients are good for your skin.
Folks in Germany are not big fans of the typical English soaps. They refer to them as chemical laced lather bombs. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 26Has anyone tried the actual soaps (not the "paste soaps")?
The comment about "adult" scents reminds me of Tabac -- also German as I recall? Clearly a scent that is very different from the more floral, woodsy, or citrusy scents. Also clearly polarizing (love it or hate it).Steve

I'm also a fan of Meißner, and agree that they hit a home run with their Wild Oranges scent.
I have both soaps and pastes, and haven't found much difference in the lather. I do have to make sure that I load the brush enough with the soaps or I'll get a weak lather, but if I do, the lather is excellent.Richard

If I recall correctly, the soaps and pastes are pretty much identical, where the pastes are left to dry out (or otherwise dehydrated) to form the soaps.
