For me i CAN take my time and the lather doesn't disappear or fade away, the lather stay's stable whit out any problem. I consider myself pretty lucky to get so good results cause I know that lots of wet shavers didn't. I don't think there's a difference between the Canadian and the US formulation? Anyway I very like the stuff.

This has been my experience with Williams. A joy to shave with but the scent, while pleasant, is far from my favorite.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Williams is one of my favorites, also. I get great results with a boar brush.

Not to open a can of worms but I used Williams mug(modern) this morning and I had one of the best shave. I know we all have different opinions on all kinds of subject but this morning shave was one of the best I ever had. Williams serve me well and is getting better every time i used it, for straight, shavette, DE or SE i really enjoyed it.

Soak a boar brush and the puck for about 10 mins with hot tap water. Shake the brush out. Great lather. Slick and lasts plenty long enough. It's about all that I used for 30 yrs and has never disappointed.

I will always have it in my rotation. It does take a bit of work to build a proper lather, but has always been a good performer.
And yes...it loves a good boar brush and soaking, beforehand.Mike
