    Default soapers'

    Hi all,
I am tossing around the idea of a well, conditionings, lathering soap that could be used for shaving, washing. And shampoo/contioner .
And wonder if this could be accomplished with
Tallow, lye, bentonite clay? Or would I need to add another oil like sweet almond oil to prevent cloging pores?

well most lousy shave soaps end up as shower soap or for the dog, but I don't see a benefit to a soap that is everything to all purposes. I mean if you want you could use your shampoo for everything and do the dishes with it. but any product that is multi use may not be as good as the products that are made for each purpose. I don't even like the body washes that claim to be multi use. they work ok but not as good as my bar soap for my body and my shampoo that I use on my hair. but hey if your into creating something I,m sure someone will try it. got to be some out there that cant figure out which soap to use while in the shower Tc

True, I wasn't thinking the soap properties would be vastly different but was hoppind it would work out to cut down on the number of soaps on the dopp kit

Just take a bar of bath soap, lather it up or at least try to and shave. You'll see real quick where it is lacking in the properties a good shave soap will have. It would really be a jack of all trades and master at none situation. I can tell you a bar of Ivory soap is not a good substitute for a real shave soap from experience.

My wife uses Mitchell Wool Fat Bath soap.

I tried to shave with it but it did not lather and had no glide.

Trying to get a soap to do everything will be a challenge.

Oits looking that way a shampoo bar just doent produce lather that will hold, and a shave puck will disappear quickly compared to bath soap, each soap has at least one quality that would not work for the other usees.

Ha, Ivory doesn't even serve well as a bath soap. It's way too mild. Maybe for a baby it's good.

Ivory soap is like trying to use half and half as milk

It is funny to hear ivory bath soap being called too mild and fit for a baby's delicate skin when you have shavers blowing big bucks on shave soaps that pamper their skin like you would want for a baby's bottom. What can I say, it's a puzzle to me.
