Thanked: 292I am going on a trip next week. I will be driving, so weight is not a big issue.
I plan to take a couple of Gold Dollar straights with me as I do not want to risk losing or damaging one of my good razors.
I will take a tube of Cremo shave cream and a synthetic brush. In a pinch, some of the boutique soaps at hotels do a decent job of creating a shaving lather. That may not be the case at cheaper motels.
I will take a cheap plastic cereal bowl for lathering, but a coffee cup, even a paper one, can be used.
I won't take a hanging strop, but I will take along a strop made from leather glued to balsa and a CBN pasted strop as well. Thus, I should be able to keep my straights sharp throughout the trip.

If I'm flying, I don't take a bowl. I use a skuttle everyday and if I'm driving I have a Georgetown Pottery Skuttle that is my travel skuttle. Either way, I take my tub of Tabac with me. Usually only one razor and my older strop.

Thanked: 171Travellers, shaving bowl or no shaving bowl.
It is part of my job to spend nights away from home and for softer soaps like Cella, or even up to Mitchell's Wool Fat, I use a sealable round plastic (to save weight) food container.
I am primarily a face latherer and with these containers I don't need to change my lathering routine.

Face lather!
I also put some shave cream and my aftershave in small travel size containers.
You can also get a small travel size tube of proraso from bath and body works labeled as CO Bigelow. it's lovely
I keep my straight of choice pre-stropped in a plastic Dovo coffin.
happy travels

Razors, paddle strop, tube of shaving cream and omega synth brush. If you are worried about humidity in your travel gear consider stainless steel razors.
