Thanked: 0Problems lathering Truefitt & Hill Luxury soap
Hi all,
Hope you can help me out here, cause I'm desperate for a solution. Came home with a Truefitt & Hill Luxury soap today, stoked to get a shave on it. It won't lather though. I tried a million things already. I know, it's the first day, but some tips are very welcome.
I own a Mühle Kosmo Silvertip Fibre brush (just the one) and I tried it dry, wet, soaking, all of it. Also tried the soap dry, bloomed, just sprinkled with a bit of water. Lathered on the soap, in a dry bowl, in a wet bowl, on my hand, on my face etc. etc. No matter what I did, the result is always some degree of 'frothy', never the rich creaminess I'm so used to get off a Proraso or Tabac!
Frankly, getting a bit annoyed by it all. Although I know that's not what shaving is about, some tips would be most welcome by now.
Cheers, Job

I bought the T&H luxury also.
I say its "Crap", Williams Mug has a better and more lasting lather.
Use it in the shower, its about all its good for IMHOMike

Arko is very inexpensive but lathers very nicely.

Job,
Truefitt & Hill creams are quite good. Truefitt & Hill soaps are mediocre. If you've tried everything and still no results, forgot that soap and get yourself a better product. Look over the list in this thread for some ideas:

I'm sure something in there will strike your fancy.

This worked for Crabtree & Evelyn. I had the same problems with C&E as you are with the T&H puck.
Lather your face as well as you can and let it dry. Go back with a damp brush and see if it will then lather. Good luck. If no luck, do as Obie says and enjoy a very expensive bath bar.If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 250OR you could do what Outback Mike taught me a while back and that is make a soap concoction with it. I just grate the sub par pucks on a vegetable grater and mix the shreds with a skosh of water then pack the glop in an old coffee mug. You will be amazed at the lather and good shaves some of these concoctions whip up.

I,m with Obie and Mike on this one,, their creams are good but the puck is so so, and I wouldn't waste my time with it, if you have to mix it with other ingredients then its not really worth the trouble if it wont stand on its own,, and no matter what you do it wont be as good a lather as the 2 your using now,,, Tabac is a hard lather to beat. or do as Obie suggested get some other soap that's been tried and tested in his thread. or like was also mentioned if you don't want to spend much to try another lather Arko is hard to beat also if you like the urinal cake smell. by the way a puck of Tabac is really inexpensive Tc

I think Arko smells like hotel or Dove soap.

I have the same problem with Geo F. Trumper. It seems that all the british brands soaps (C&E, T&H, TOBS, GFT, ...) are now made by the same factory, with the same basic ingredients but différents scent recipes: the results are the same. No problem with the creams.
