Soaps here. I find I can get a bit closer and better feedback with the soaps. On weekends I will use creams for a luxurious change of pace though.

Tried some C&E Nomad cream I bought on Friday this weekend. Seems to work well, but still need to work on my lathering skills.

Thanked: 0The first soap I use was a Van Der Hagen I didn't really like took long to make a good lather, so I went with Proraso I love it a lot ..... so Creams 1 Soap 0 I am going to try other soaps

Generally, creams tend to give more buffering between blade and skin, and the soaps a closer more lubricated shave. Try some of each (the best of each) and see what suits you best.
