Gentlemen,

I was doing a bit of research on Domenico Caraceni 1913 and ran across this thread:

I've made a reasonable copy of DC 1913 using unscented XPEC spritzed with DC 1913 EdT and stirred, and it works well. This works because of a couple of fortunate circumstances. One, unscented XPEC is truly unscented, there's not even a base soap scent. Two, DC 1913 is a 'linear' scent, there aren't many delicate top notes that come off quickly, IOW it smells very much the same on dry down. So the EdT doesn't lose much if anything from the atomizer to the soap. I used 5 spritzes of EdT for every 8g of XPEC. You can vary it as you wish but this is a reasonable recipe for me.

I've had a couple of people test it out and so far so good, everyone has liked it.

The history as well as I know it: DC 1913 was made by Forrester Milan, the folks who made the last formulation of XPEC. The current version of XPEC is made by Effemarinelli and is a reformulation (lost the parabens I believe) and is to me equal to the old (I have both). I also have both the old and new versions of DC 1913 EdT and the new version is dead on.

Hope this helps some folks who miss DC 1913 shaving cream!

Cheers, Steve
