Black Ship Grooming Co.
The soaps from Black Ship Grooming have been popping up on my radar as of late and have drawn my curiosity. I'll be the first to admit that I'm pretty tired of the pirate shtick (I spend too much time around a lake with far too many wannabe pirates) but a few of the offerings caught my attention and I'm considering giving them a try. Yet being a smart(ish) SRP member I did a search of my favorite online community and am finding myself surprised that nothing turned up.
Is there anyone here that's familiar with Black Ship and their soaps? I've been very lucky in my impulse soap buys but I'm always leery of getting a poorly lathering dud and it's always best to seek out a review how the stuff performs. I'm also a little curious as to scent as I tend to be a touch picky and while the Aladdin's Spice offering lures the cinnamon lover in me I'm also worried about getting something too sweet to stand.
I seriously wish all soap producers offered samples...Knowledge is power. Power corrupts.

It's a quality soap, and lathers easily, and is a popular soap. It used to be called Beaver WoodWright. You can find samples at Maggard's.

Thank you, sir! I checked Maggard's earlier but by way of searching for Black Ship, not samples. At your suggestion I went back, looked for the "Samples" listing and found 'em. Unfortunately the scents I most wanted to try aren't available but at least I can pick up a sample or two to try...or just bite the bullet and order a full tub straight from BSG.
As for their popularity, I've been seeing their soaps pretty regularly in SotD pics on Instagram (My name is GreenRipper and I have a problem.) which is what caught my attention in the first place. I figured that it was likely pretty good soap but since I'm active here I figured I'd ask a community I trust.
Regarding the Beaver WoodWright name, I noticed that their AS line is labeled with this moniker but I hadn't really made a connection. Now I know.Last edited by GreenRipper; 09-30-2017 at 01:41 AM.
