Klar Seifen soap. My opinion
I got a sample of this great soap and with it being on the top tier of Obie's list I just had to give it a try.
The soap is a hard soap. Not soft at all. Maybe my sample was a little old? I just found it to be a hard packed soap.
The first time I used it I wasn't very impressed with the slickness. Maybe I had used too much water. I broke it out tonight for another try and found the slickness to be good. Not the best or even second place but it was good.
The lather on this second try was really a nice thick lather even when a little extra water was used. I like my lather to be just this side of too wet. Still had some nice peaks in the scuttle. I did find that it started to dissipate after a little time. This is something that drives me nuts. I don't think a soap should just disappear after a while. I've had some that were a lot worse so it wasn't a really big deal.
The scent, according to the website is spicy and leathery. As you know, my sniffer don't work as well as most. I could tell it had some kind of scent but it was just too faint for me to really get a good whiff. I had the wife smell it in the sample container and she said the scent was very slight but had no idea of what it was. Even right out of the scuttle I just couldn't get much of anything from it.
The protection type to slickness was good but again not the best or even second place to what I've had in the past. I found a touch of slickness left on my face after the razor pass. Some soaps I find nothing left on my skin.
All in all, I gave Klar a 7.5 to 8 out of 10. With the lather being what pushes it up the list. Would I buy this? Yes. I'd put it in my line-up of good soaps but it would be around 4th or 5th in place out of all the soaps and creams I've used.
So there you have it. YMMV and this is just my opinion. Hope this might help someone out if they are looking to buy some in the future.Last edited by Gasman; 12-07-2017 at 12:55 AM.

Thanked: 30I purchased the tin of the Klar Classic. I get lemon, leather and musk from the scent. Seemed like the lemon was clashing. But after using it a few times the overall scent strength has died down and become tolerable. The scent doesn't really linger for me so any other aftershave/cologne can be used afterwards. The puck is small and takes different attention to load up a larger brush. But I agree with you that the soap performs very well! Might be a good choice for a travel soap since it comes in a small screw top tin.

Thanked: 81Of all the various soaps I've tried, the Klar Siefen classic is by far my favourite scent. Not my favourite lather, although it's quite good - just no match for Castle Forbes or Martin de Candre, for example. It also happens to be my girlfriend's favourite scent among my soaps.
The only other scent that comes close for me is the Martin de Candre Fougère.
It's interesting how subjective scent is!

I like the soap, but to me it's at the bottom of the first tier.
I actually gave it away, I was becoming a soap hoarderLook sharp and smell nice for the ladies.~~~Benz

I've tried all the different types of shaving soap they offered years ago, I bought the tin versions and also the big bars they used to sell, they came per pair packed in paper, they were some big bars and were called Klar Kabinett or something.
The Klar Kabinett bars were outstanding! Great quality soap, great thick slick lather, one of the best soaps I've ever used.
Not long after I had heard they discontinued them or stopped selling them as Klar Kabinett, which is probably 5 years ago (probably even longer).
I liked those better than the ones that came in the tin. I still have some of the bars left somewhere.
The bars were also very hard IIRC.
The soap in the tin I found to be inferior compared to the bars, the bars were outstanding.
I found there to be a rather big difference in performance between the two. But it's been a while, so hard to make the comparison now.
I did just read that the soap is still being produced with a slight difference in ingredients called "Dusy Professional MEN Kabinett-Rasierseife"Last edited by TristanLudlow; 12-15-2017 at 05:31 PM.

Klar is right at the top of my Tier 3 list. I grate the small pucks into larger containers, and I think if they came in a large jar they would be even more popular. I really enjoy the classic scent and have their matching AS and EdT, as well as their bath soap. I also enjoy Klar's Lemongrass and Sandalwood scents. I still have a huge amount of Klar Kabinett left--one of the best rose scented soaps and is easy to lather, but doesn't compare in the cushion/glide/face feel department. I've heard that Dusy is the same soap from people who have used both. Klar will always be in my regular rotation.

I was amazed on how hard this soap was and still was able to work up a nice lather without soaking it in water. Bet it would last a loooong time.
