Default Sudsy Soapery/Chatillon Lux Collaboration (Delor de Treget)

I've been a little quiet as of late but I found an email from Sudsy Soapery in my inbox this morning and part of its contents are worth sharing.

This post requires a bit of background...

Back in June I attended the first "official" St. Louis Shaver's Meet, organized primarily by Shawn over at Chatillon Lux. For those of you who haven't yet tried Shawn's aftershaves, salves and eau de toilette, you need to find a fragrance that piques your interest and give it a try. Also in attendance was Jonathan (I believe I've remembered his name correctly) from Sudsy Soapery, with his shave soaps and shave balms. Sudsy is based just over the Mississippi River in Illinois and his soaps tend to benefit from having been developed in the hard water of the region. What this means to us is that his shave soaps tend to readily build a lather even if you don't benefit from a water softener, as I do.

Since June Sudsy has become a fixture in my shave den. I'm not going to claim that Sudsy Soapery's shave soaps compare with MdC or even Wholly Kaw and Oleo (I honestly can't since I haven't yet tried any of these but I'm hoping to have the opportunity after Christmas morning) but they are good, solid soaps that lather well and offer up a an enjoyable shave. Yet, for not being spectacular in the performance department, one of these soaps is almost unarguably my favorite soap in the den.

The soap I purchased back in June was a collaboration between Sudsy and Chatillon Lux: Delor de Treget. The scent is a wonderful melange of bergamot, cedarwood, sweet oranges, lavender and labdanum and it is, without a doubt, the soap and splash combination I reach for when I'm going to a special event. There is only one reason why this combo doesn't get used more often and that is because it is in short supply, having been a limited run. Every time I use this soap I fall in love with it all over again and then have to fight a twinge of sadness knowing that my first tub is dwindling and that I only have one in reserve. I remind myself each time that the aftershave is in regular supply at Chatillon Lux but there is something so special to me about using the soap before reinforcing my shave with the splash.

This morning I learned that Sudsy Soapery is doing another run of this wonderful soap and it will go on sale on January 15. I know that many of you here haven't used this soap or aftershave and probably aren't likely to. That's fine, as always, YMMV. That said, those of you who have and loved it, or haven't and feel the need, have the opportunity to pick some up in the new year...just do me a solid and leave me a tub and a couple of bars of the bath soap!
