Neutrogena shave cream
Anyone else tried Neutorgena shave cream? I saw it on sale and bought it without actually reading what it was. Apparently its a non lathering shave cream
From their website
Our oil-free, no foam formula is the first medicated shave cream for men to fight razor bumps and minimize ingrown hair. And a thin layer is all you need.
Our secret? Glycerin and moisturizers form a protective barrier between your face and razor to minimize irritation and provide a great shave.
I havent actually tried it as advertised, just not brave enough I guess. Once I realized it didnt lather I used it as a pre-shave cream and actually liked the results. It seemes to actually help which I cant say I have really noticed with Proraso pre-shave cream, the only other one Ive ever tried.
If anyone is braver than me and has actually tried using it as a shave cream let me know how it works, till then ill just keep using it as a pre-shave cream.

Tried it once. Just once.

Tried it and didn't even make it through a full WTG pass.
It is good at removing wine from carpet though. Rub it in, let it dry, and vacuum it up.Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Thanked: 250It looks like something I would add to one of my soap concoctions like Creamo.

Gentlemen,
I might have tried this cream once a long time ago. Or not. I can't remember. Regardless, a shave without the use of a brush is a sin.

Oh trust me I used a brush and tried to get a lather from it the first time I used it. Eventually I gave up used it as a preshave cream, since it was already on the brush, Then whipped up some actual shave cream and shaved. It was only after that I actually read the bit about it not supposinbg to lather.

I tried it last year when I was experimenting with going minimalist and doing the brushless thing. Its OK, nothing special though. Theres no cushion, the slickness is just meh and I found that I had to use a lot of product, so a tube would only last me a couple weeks.
Its fine and it works but its just so blah. IMO, if you want to go brushless, Cremo is better.

Thanked: 292I do not mind the low-lather shave creams like Cremo,, Pacific Shaving, etc. They are designed to be used brushless, but contain soap and can be lathered with a brush and added water.
I have never had success with oil-based non-lathering creams like Alba/Trader Joe's, or Jack Black. Thus, I don't suspect the Neutrogena would work for me, either. I suspect they were intended for shavers using cartridge razors.
Nothing prepares your face for a great shave better than a 1st tier soap or cream properly lathered using a good brush and the right amount of water.
