Thanked: 20MDC Lather Seems Dry
Im fairly new to SRS, a little more than 100 shaves in. I've tried some great soaps, Wholly Kaw, Castle Forbes, Oleo, Glide, DR Harris. I finally invested in a puck of Martin de Candre and although I love the ease of building up a later and the scent, I find that mid shave it's dry on my face. I'm wondering if I need to add more water while face lathering or I'm overloading the brush (around 10 swirls)

Thanked: 13245Something that came up in a discussion with a friend
The idea that Lather takes a bit of time to "Absorb" the water and become fully hydrated
He noticed that his second/third latherings always felt slicker, wetter than the first
He began making the lather in the scuttle BEFORE his shower then re-whipping it up after and liked the results...
I don't know, what I do know is that in this hobby we all love, a general rule seems to apply "If you take your time you get better results""No amount of money spent on a Stone can ever replace the value of the time it takes learning to use it properly"
Very Respectfully - Glen

Thanked: 3225If it is drying out on your face mid shave it is either too thin, not enough soap and too much water, or too much soap and not enough water. Each new soap is slightly different in what it likes for water so you will just have to experiment a bit to find what works.
