Thread: Col. Conk sampler pack

Conk was the first "upgrade" in soaps I used many moons ago.

It will get the job done but I would encourage you to try something else like Mitchell's woolfat which is orders of magnitude better and not that expensive.

With any soap no matter how cheap or expensive the routine is the same. Figure out the water soap ratio and how many twirls you need and you'll be lathering like a pro.

I have gone through two of those "samplers" although I mostly used it with cartridge razors. The stuff seems to prevent "plug up" well. I would take a sliver, use a bowl, and mix it up with just a touch of water. It worked decently well but when I began using a straight razor full time I bought a different kind of cream which I like much, much more.

if your thrilled with the Conk, your in for a treat then when you get some better stuff. theres much better in inexpensive and expensive , but theres much better, so enjoy it then run up to the rabbit hole and jump in the water is fine Tc

You got that right brother! Much better stuff than Col. Conk at not much more price.

This is what I use and I really like it, much, much better than Conk.

 

I wasnt impressed with the Conk. I thimk it went in the trash. To each his own i guess.

I grated my last puck in the washing machine. The crap still didn't make any suds.

I guess with time and experience my selection will be more expansive. I saw it online and it was cheap. I’ve also been able to lather it up pretty good.

It doesn't have to be expensive to be good. Give good old Tabac or Mitchell's Wool Fat a try. I still use Van Der Hagen Luxury for my workday shaves. All three of the above have Conk beat hands down. VDH can be purchased at your local Walmart.
