Default Taylor of Old Bond Street Creams

I shaved for the first time with TOBS Sandalwood Cream. It was great. I find it pretty similar to Castle Forbes. The fragrance is as nice a Sandalwood fragrance as I’ve seen. I also have TOBS Lavender Cream. The TOBS creams are high quality. Try make a lot of lather with a very small about of product. I’ve always been a soap guy and I mostly still am. I have Castle Forbes Cream in Lavender and Cedarwood Sandalwood the latter of which I don’t like the scent. I have the two TOBS creams and GFT Coconut Cream which I really like a lot.

And, I have about 8 shaves with MDC soap. It’s great but I wish it came in a mug or wish I could fit it in a mug. My other soaps in rotation are Tabac, Cade, DR Harris, and Men’s soap co. And I have TOVS soap which is very good.

I have too many soaps and creams. I went a little crazy for a while.

The general consensus seems to be that TOBS and GFT make good creams, but their soaps are lacking. On the other hand DR Harris soaps get better reviews than their creams. Of course, some will disagree.

While you probably have enough soaps to fulfill you shaving requirements, that does not mean you have enough soaps. I currently have about 25 soaps and 10 creams, but my collection is woefully lacking compared to some around here.

The quest for wonderful razors, strops, hones, brushes, soaps, creams, aftershave splashes and balms is limited only by your imagination, your storage space, and your finances. For the most part, soaps and creams can be purchased for $25 or less, although there are notable exceptions like MDC and Castle Forbes. Thus, collecting soaps may be less costly than collecting custom razors or JNAT hones.

Taylor's is a fine cream (made by Creighton, if memory serves me right), although for me Castle Forbes leaves my face in better condition.

The scents I tried did not quite please me though, I found them a bit on the synthetic side.
