Default Every Man Jack Shave Creams

I live on Vancouver Island, BC and have only seen London Drugs/Shoppers Drug Mart carry this brand of shaving creams. I have two flavors. One is their "Signature Mint" cream in a tube. The other is their "Cedarwood" in a bowl.

Personally, I like the Cedarwood in a bowl more. One, I feel the tubed one has more of a toothpaste texture to it. Two, I find the bowl is easier to work with. Three, the Cedarwood smells a lot better. The "Signature Mint" doesn't really smell like mint at all.

I haven't seen any mention of this brand yet. Has anyone else tried these? If so, I would like to read your thoughts on it.

BTW, is there a proper way to use tubed shaving creams? Are these meant to be put on a brush? Or do you just put it on your hand without a brush?

    Thanks!

Regarding shaving cream out of a tube, I put it on a finger and dab it on my cheeks, distribute it a little bit with my finger and then face lather.
For cream in a tub, I usually dab a moist shaving brush into the tub, charge the brush, and face lather. Once I have distributed the cream, I dip the tips of the brush in warm water/hold them briefly under the faucet to increase the water ratio and build the lather.

If you should prefer lathering in a bowl, just squeeze some product from the tube into the bowl, or - if the cream came in a tub - take the charged wet brush into a bowl and lather there.

When I charge the brush, I start with a fairly low water/product ratio, as I find it easier to increase the water ratio than the product ratio.
If necessary you can dip the tips of the brush into water/under the running faucet to increase the water ratio.

There are many ways to do it.
    These are mine.

    Hope this helps....

I purchased a tube of Jack Black shave cream on a whim. It is one of the few shave products I have found to be nearly useless, at least for my shaving preferences.

Jack Black cream is a non-lathering shave cream designed to be used without a brush. The ingredients list some fatty acids and oils, but nowhere does it say these fats have be saponified to form a soap. Thus, it will not develop a lather. If you try using Jack Black with a brush you may well have difficulty getting the residual product out of the brush.

Alba Botanica also makes a product called "cream shave" that is similar to Jack Black. Trader Joe's also sells a "cream shave" under their own brand that seems to contain the same ingredients as Alba. If you want a brushless cream, then it will work, but it does not work well with a brush.

I have used some "brushless" shave creams like Kiss My Face and Cremo that do contain soaps and can be used either with or without a brush. I use them with a brush.
