Thanked: 292Because I gave the DG Bison TSM Fougere a slight edge over the Icarus base (partly due to the funky note of the Contemplation scent), I ordered two more DG Bison scents: Fourth and Pine and Colonia Balsamica. They are scheduled for postal delivery this afternoon. Both are Chatillon Lux collaboration scents.
Perhaps when DG puts out more CL collaboration scents in the Icarus base, I will try another from that base. Unfortunately, the Vide Poche LE scent was sold out when i placed my order or I might have tried that. I wonder whether that scent might have been too floral for my scent preferences.

Thanked: 31Rich, I'm wondering if you just got a bad batch of the Shore and Contemplation. I say this because although they're not as strong as the Sweet Lemon, I'd put the strength of the scent on those at 5 or so, and I had no animal funkiness at all right from the get go.
FWIW, the Vide Poche is right at the edge of where I can tolerate floral notes. Any more, and I'd pass it forward. But it was a pleasant scent, and the performance of the Icarus base is great.
Hope you like the Fourth and Pine, one of my favorites in that it pairs really well with Acqua di Parma.Michael P

Thanked: 292I have not yet shaved with the Colonia Balsamica, but I did shave with the Fourth and Pine. I previously had shaved with TSM Fougere. I like all three scents, but when the soaps are new, I pick up some animalic funk underneath the scent. Leaving the top off the soap for a few hours does seem to help. Thus, for now I rate the scents as 4 out of 5. If the funkiness goes away, I will rate the scents as 5/5. Since the scent of Contemplation is somewhat lighter, funkiness is more pronounced. I now rate the contemplation scent as 3 of 5.
As far as the performance, I think the Bison Tallow base loads and lathers easier than the Icarus base. However, Icarus has a better post shave feel. Both have great slickness and cushion.

I considered this but the chance of having both soaps coming from a bad batch is slim. Additionally, Scott said that the soaps are made in 20lb batches and he has not smelled what he considered bad. Probably just not for me.Rich

Thanked: 31Good point, Rich.
I got my first DG Icarus soaps right on release, and then got backups a little while later. Maybe I just got lucky with the ones I got.Michael P

Thanked: 110Wondering if anyone has tried the Declaration Grooming Dirtyver soap yet? The description gives the impression of a very strong "dirt/marshland's" smell.. From my own experience with DG's Shore and most others on here that DG's new scents are on the lighter side.. The only soap i have in my cabinet with this kind of scent is Stirling's Port- Au- Prince and just opening the tub my wife can smell it from a diffrent room.. Quite powerful and i like it!!.. Wondering if this Dirtyver is in the same realm?.. Anyway if anyone has tried this soap i would love to hear your impression.. Thanks guys, Scott W
