    Default pre de provence 63

I love pre de provence 63‘s scent! Love it! I love the scent so well, I bought the shower gel to compliment my pre de Provence 63 shaving soap/aftershave.

And even though I hardly ever wear cologne, I might get that too!

But this week long review isn’t about shower gels it’s about the shaving soap and it’s aftershave balm, but know this, every 63 product I tried so far smells exactly the same. It smells like clean! Clean with some manly floral woodsy scents added in. Nom,nom. It’s a universal scent that you can use in summer or winter - and I have, with never an issue. “Clean” is never an unattractive choice.

The soap is manufactured in France, and It’s quite hard.

Making a lather with it, for me is a bear. Everyone said the Osma soap would be tricky to lather, but it wasn’t. No one has ever said 63 is, but there I am struggling... go figure.

Interestingly, it was the lather that I thought I loved about the soap, but my last two shaves have seen uninspired lathers. The soaps viscosity and cushion in my opinion is really the products downfall. But there’s no question post shave even if the alum stings like the dickens, that the soaps conditioned the face.

It’s odd because they make a brushless cream as well that the propaganda says lathers, but I couldn’t lather if the world depended on it!

I would expect most would hate the cream, and reading the reviews, most ”do.” But I absolutely love it. It’s the weirdest shaving product I’ve ever had. It doesn’t lather, but it protects like a champ!! And after the blade passes, it feels like your face is dry! It’s the oddest sensation! But I dig it now and again! And did I mention that it smells great?! Oh yeah! It does.

Ok, so finally the balm. It’s part magic. I use it after shaving with AdP too. They are both clean scents so it works - and they are both quality products.

I love shaving with pre de provence 63 products. I’m going to see if I can’t get the soaps lather running a bit better for me in the next couple of shaves and will report back. If you have a chance to try pre de provence 63, give it a shot!

Sad has hit you hard. LOL. Sounds like your having fun. Reading your post the last few weeks has inspired me to acquire some soaps. I tried Tabac what a great soap. MWF oh what a lather. I want to try some others but can't bust out $80 for soap. Looking foward to more.

Hacker, If I inspired you to discover a better soap for you - which leads to a better shave, it's my honor!! What a compliment. I couldn't be more happy. A quality soap is a good thing.

Busting out $80 for a soap is a limited luxury I've only begun to afford myself. The fact of the matter is that I've all but halted buying straights and other hardware, so a little extra toward soaps is a thing right now. And yea, I had a little manic period there buying soaps and feeding my SAD, but I am having fun! Now I'm reviewing my rotation pre episode. It'll be a while before I'm done being I'm going a week long with each.

I also love the scent of No. 63. The soap is difficult to lather, but as long as I bloom it, I can get a reasonable, but not great lather from it. The best deal is their bath soap--a huge bar that lasts forever for a reasonable price.

I've enjoyed your soap reviews. I have most of the soaps you've reviewed (I have far too many soaps) and it's been fun to see if your impressions are the same as mine.

Thanks man. I actually thought I was losing my mind not being able to get it to lather. So it’s good to hear you say what you did. I’ll bloom it for tomorrow’s or Mondays shave.

This is really an interesting thread for me, because Pre de Provence (the original) was my favorite 5 yers ago when I re-started wet shaving. I loved it, but when I couldn't find it anywhere I got their No. 63 shave soap and A/S balm, both of which are in my regular rotation. Where have you seen the cologne and bath/shower products?

You've awakened my desire to go shave now, even though I already have today! Thanks!!
