I had a strong feeling this was a special product. The fact that I had such a good shave -- in a hurry with a hampered ability to lather -- speaks well to its performance even beyond the rich fragrance.

    Default Final sampling, #5...great stuff!

After considerable dramatic pause, I'm finally here to "review" the final shaving cream sample #5. But, don't get overly excited.

After experiencing all of these "blind" soap and cream samples, I have concluded while I am enjoying the opportunity to play around with lathering software, I am in no way a competent reviewer as such. About all I can vouch for is that I'm getting decent mileage.

Take this sample which I have shaved with for the past 3 shaves, each with a different blade. You'd think that would help me to write a more accurate description of its scent, right? No. Perhaps expanding upon its elusive cushion, or glide? Uh, no.

I will say that the rich, cloudy white lather performed admirably each time and the post-shave feel was great using my typical Trumper's skin food finish. For the life of me, I still cannot pin down the scent other than to say it made for lovely, pleasant shave. Not too strong for my nose. Ease of lathering was tops.

The funny thing is I believe this shave cream is one that David says he once really favored but now lately maybe not so much...possibly due to reformulation or memories not holding up so well to today's reality. Guess we will find out soon enough.

Thanks, David, for giving me a ton of stuff to try. I really enjoyed the 3 combos you had paired with after-shave splashes since that's something I haven't tried for years. Looks like I may have to get some of that mentholated face-fire-ice blast you're enjoying.

Ok but seriously, if you love 1896’s scent, you can get this stuffs cologne, shampoos, anything! It’s a layering heaven product.

Mark is right though... I bought this tube last summer in Toronto. I was super excited because I loved my Acca Kappa 1896 the first time I had it. But this time, being I was traveling, I thought the tube would be easier than the bowl, and I indeed was disappointed.

I honestly think the bowl is way more fragrent - which to Marks point about it being a nice scent but not knowing what it is, would not have happened if it was via the bowl.

I’ve always loved Acca Kappa. And yes, this tube lathers well and smells ok, but the bowl lathers like a champ and smells like heaven! I’d recommend anyone try it. But get the bowl.

Yea Mark, thanks for playing. You’ll need to write in order which you liked the most.
