Default New Maca Root & Aloe shave cream

Tried the new formula Maca Root & Aloe in this mornings shave. I used an Omega boar brush to face lather it with and a straight razor to shave with. I did my normal 4 pass shave. I had a very enjoyable close comfortable shave.

I had no trouble identifying it as Maca Root by it's scent so that hasn't changed much if any. I do enjoy the scent so that is a plus. It lathered up easily and had plenty of slickness to it as did the old formula. The lather may not have been quite as voluminous as the old formula but perfectly fine. Overall I like it very much and will not miss the old formula as much as I did like it too.

My initial impression is that they did a good job with the new formula.

Is this the stuff from The Bodyshop? I have tried the older straight Maca Root shave cream and was very impressed with it. After reading this I think I might go pick up a tub.

I'm curious, but why did you pick out a boar brush? I only ask because in my head for some reason I always associate boar with harder soaps.

Thanks for sharing your initial impression!

    Hey Paul

Yea, it is from The Bodyshop and is on sale at 35% off right now. That make's it $11.70 plus tax.

I used a boar brush because I grew up using them and still like them despite having various synthetics and 2 band badger brushes to pick from. They all will work with any shave cream, croap or hard puck I have used though.

How's the weather been up in the Cariboo lately?

I had used a tub for a while and enjoyed it. Just passed it on with a DE set to a friend to get him started.

Thanks for the review Bob! I don't have a Body Shop anywhere near me, but obviously, you can buy online. And it'll be worth it at this point - being here in the USA anyway there is a 40% sale!

I've tried the old formulation and liked it, though I'm not a big fan of creams in general. Good stuff, and boar brushes rule!

That is amazing, even with the 40% off it is more expensive in the US before tax. Here with a 35% off sale it is $9.70 CAD before tax. When you convert $9.60 USD to CAD you get $12.46 CAD before tax. I guess you need to be an accountant for any of that to make sense.

No - I got it. FX isn't rocket science lol. But that is remarkable. Usually it's the other way around.

    Awesome !!!

Thanks for the heads up, Bob I will pick some up soonest.

The Body Shop Shave Creams have been my Goto recommendation to new guys for quite a few years, they are reasonable, VERY face friendly for conditioning and often available locally for many.

Good to hear they are sticking with it

Sorry, I did not mean the you personally need to be an accountant to make sense of that. I meant tongue in cheek that most people would find that odd unless you might be an accountant. When you start mixing different money and their exchange rates with different percentage price reduction it can get weird.
