glycerine scent bombs
having tried just about everything over the years, i've decided what i really love is facelathering a heavily scented glycerine soap. essential oils of citrus or almond mainly. mama bears will always be loved for me. what are your thoughts on favorite glycerine soaps when it comes to scent and performance?

Personally, I don't enjoy glycerine-based soaps as I much prefer tallow-based ones for the richer and creamier lather. Even many of the new artisan's offer some great vegetable-based soaps that are excellent, and there is always MdC.

Thanked: 171Used glycerine soaps for a limited time.
Very early on Col. Conk shaving soap and then for a while Musgo Real pre-shave soap, but found that glycerin soaps are not my cup of tea.
For me it does not necessarily have to be tallow-based, good vegetable based soaps (e.g. Haslinger) can be as good; but as far as glycerin soaps went I found no qualities that made them particularly attractive to me.
I also prefer products that don’t have an overpowering scent and pity the people who have to work in a soap shop like “Lush”.

the appeal of glycerin for me is a very slick and clean feeling shave. i have a very moist and somewhat oil rich face to begin with. so glycerin really leaves me feeling great. i do really enjoy the haslinger sage however.

Thanked: 556Agree. It’s nicely refreshing to have a peasant scent while shaving and shortly after, but it can be overpowering and annoying to others if it’s too strong and last through the work day.
Bad memories of Lush - used to frequent a really good neighbourhood coffee bistro That closed up shortly after a Lush soap shop opened next door. The scent from the soaps affected how customers tasted the coffee,David

Thanked: 31I agree that Mama Bear makes excellent glycerine soaps. Highly recommended. Some other companies are good and then there are some more so-so glycerine soaps.

I have went through many soaps (mostly first and second tier) and the ONLY glycerin based saops I have really liked have been mama bear soaps and I may be wrong but I think TGQ soaps are also glycerin based. If that’s right then that would be the only other.

also.. not sure if you guys remember the quality soaps that used to be put out by straight razor designs. they had a lime soap that was to die for. will forever miss that line up.
