Caring for shave soap
Gents,
A bizarre question for you all but for those of you who lather straight from a shave bowl that has the soap fixed in, how do you care for the soap?
Do you just close the bowl after shaving, do you get rid of the lather and rinse it out, do you wait for the water to dry?

I just close the bowl or most of the time it is out of a mug with no top.
Any possible loose water I dump out.
I usually don't rotate soaps and by the next morning at least here the soap is still damp from the day before.
I don't have to worry about soaking the puck etc.
Once the puck dries out it becomes more work to produce a lather so why bother to let it dry?
I have a glass half pint wide mouth jar of Cella that has been going for a few years and I just close the top when I am done.

I rinse it out then blot it to get the biggest part of the water out and cap it. Then it's clean when I use it the next time. Has worked for me.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Dump the excess water.
If it's in an open container, rinse out the excess soap and I'm done.
If it's in a closed container, just wipe the sealing surfaces and close er up.I may not be as old as dirt, but I do remember when the Dead Sea first begin to feel ill!

Dump the extra water and then just close the lid. I have one soap I don’t use often, I’ve had it for maybe 8 years now and I’ve done it like with no issues.

Thanked: 4826Most of my little bowls have plastic lids. If I plan on using the soap for the rest of the week, I just leave it on the counter. When I am going to switch soap I give it a quick swish and drain and put the lid on it.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I always shave in the morning before work, snd leave the lid off to dry out until I get home in the evening. MdC recommends always leaving the lid off their soaps, but I wouldn't know how to stack them. I'm not sure it makes much difference one way ore the other.

Thanks for all the replies!
I've been doing what most of you have noted here for many years, but for some reason I just got to thinking perhaps there was a "right" way of storing/caring for soap post-use.

Gentlemen,
I usually leave the soap and the cream lid off until the next morning and then cap it. Martin de Candre I leave open all the the time.

As Obie alluded, it depends. Hard soaps & MdC I leave open until they dry. Croaps (soft cream-like soaps) I dump the water out and re cap the next morning.
