Default Wilkinson shave stick first impression

This is a first impression but I doubt it is likely to change.

It lathers like a champ with good slickness, leaves my skin feeling great and the inoffensive scent won't fight for supremacy with your after shave. Any wet shaver should at least try it. Excellent price to performance ratio.

I ordered mine from Connaught and combined it with other goodies for free shipping. The purchases were very economical compare to ordering it from online sellers this side of the pond.

I did a 4 pass face lathered shave with a straight razor followed by alum and AV Ice blue post shave. Rewarded with a great irritation free old time shave. What more can you ask for?

My daughter went to Germany a few years ago.
    I requested some shave soap.
I got some Wilkinson in a tub from the German grocery store!

Seems it is made in Germany?

Hey! It's pretty good and refreshing stuff!

We get the Wilkinson tub soap locally. It does not say where it is made but only imported by Schick Canada of all things. Mu guess id that you are right that it is made in Germany. I have heard it referred to as "the blue bowl of death" on another forum by a disgruntled user. For my part it seems just fine in use.

I think the shave stick has better performance and is made in Solingen Germany. I think the great performance of the stick is down to it containing tallow, glycerine and lanolin. Very slick lather and leaves the skin feeling good.

Well, I must confess that a grid was applied with a pile of glycerin.
    Nice stuff, anyway!

I bought a wilkinson shave stick when I was in London in January, was in an older high street pharmacy, last one on the shelf. I also found it to be pretty good.
I didn't check to see where it was made, I thought the colour was a bit unusual, being blue.

I remember trying the Wilkinson soap in the bowl a few years ago, from memory it was a glycerin type soap, I liked the fragrance of that one.

I’ve had a bowl of Wilkinsons sitting in the cottage medicine cabinet for years. Haven’t shaved with it in a long time, but have used it to lather some barber hones and my coticule a few times. The stick seems to have a better shaving formulation than the bowl based on the contents listing.

I don't have the ingredients listed on my blue bowl but I think they are different than those of the shave stick. From memory the blue bowl gave a decent lather to shave with but the stick seems to go that at least one better.

I haven't tried the Wilkinson's stuff yet, though I have used and usually love the old school creams and sticks (Gordrej, Palmolive, etc.).
I did pick up a bottle of AV Ice Blue at Wal-Fart on my last tip, though. I forget which one of you put it in an SOTD to keep it from getting too fancy-pants. Love that stuff, old man smell and all!

I ordered from Connaught Shaving in the UK as the price was half that of ordering it in North America. I combined a bunch of things I wanted to get the free shipping. The rest of the order was also near half of what it is here. The free shipping does not include tracking and took 2 weeks to get here but get here it did.

Yup, AV Ice Blue and the green Original Sport are some of my favourite ASs but I am an old man. A great finish for an old time shave.
