Thanks Chris, I'm happy to be here! I will be checking in regularly, and am always available to answer questions about my shaving soaps or any of my other products.

    Happy shaving, gentlemen!

Let me also express my satisfaction with Sue's Chamomile Shea soap: it's great for my sensitive skin (unlike many other products)

Sue - I would be interested to hear about other similar soaps (just as mild and fab-lathering, only with different scent) - so that I can order something new If you are reading this, for the benefit of the many with sensitive skin, - could you recommend some options?

I am also wondering about real Rose soap. I know Otto is very expensive. Can you give me/us an estimate of cost / puck / jar? I think we may be able to organize a group buy or something either here or on B&B, or SMF... I think a number of members would be interested to pay extra for such a product

    Cheers

    Hi Ivo,

I'm sure we can find some other scents that will be kind to your sensitive skin. Glad to hear you're enjoying the Chamomile.

I'll definitely do some research into the Rose. I'm assuming you're asking about a pure Rose Essential Oil soap. I'll keep you posted as I check into it.

Hi Sue - yes, I mean the real (and, unfortunately - quite expensive) rose.

    Please, keep us posted

Well Ivo, it's not looking too good at the moment LOL. I've been checking various vendors all morning, and as I suspected might happen because of the high cost, I've only found 1 so far that even stocks it. As you already know, the price is sky high. But I'm still looking at other quality vendors, and may still find something workable but I'm not too optimistic at this point.

I would never sacrifice quality for cost, and when it comes to pure Rose EO, the cost will be wayyyyyy up there so not many suppliers are willing to stock it.

However, the search continues. I'll keep you posted.

    Thank you, Sue!

Looking forward to this. In fact, I have some small vials with rose *something* but I don't know what it is

It is guaranteed from Bulgaria (my country, famous for roses, as you probably know) but I cannot go as far as claim it's the essence. It has a very strong scent, for sure... If you cannot find anything - maybe I can send you one of these and you can try mixing it in a soap for me?

    Cheers

This Rose project sounds interesting I was looking at some stuff here:
    http://www.bulgarianroseotto.com/

How much scent is required to make a Large 5-6oz soap smell Incredible?

    I love me some rose

Without giving away my recipe, let's just say that based on the Rose Otto website you linked, a 5-6 oz soap made with that EO would possibly be the most expensive soap you ever owned <grin>.

While EO's are certainly much more potent than FO's so less is needed for fragrancing, at $39 for 2 ml of EO, there is a good reason why you don't see a lot of pure Rose EO shaving soaps available LOL.

I'm still hunting around for better pricing but a true Rose is like a true Sandalwood EO...the cost can make you cry.

Sue - what is the magic number (range) for the soap shipped to us? Maybe you *can* reduce the contents in the recipe to arrive at a price - something close to the high end soaps (Trumper's, etc?)

I am concerned that the FO will irritate my skin. Many of them do.

    Cheers

ps - let me be more specific - I wouldn't blink to pay $30 for such a soap in a simple glass jar. I'll also pay more if that's what it is - but obviously when we go higher I am starting to question myself - how high can I go... lol
