Yea, there's plenty of expensive stuff out there that's garbage and it sells because some folks buy by the label not what's inside. On the other side there are plenty of hidden gems you can get for a song and it's just great stuff.

However, having said that, in general you do get what you pay for with most things. In the end it's your personal preference.

I'm reminded by my friend who drove around in a Yugo for many years. He was very happy with it. It got him where he wanted to go and it had a radio and the windows went down and he was happy.

But getting back to MWF. I thought it was a pretty good soap. It wasn't first tier but was in the category of "getting the job done+" I never had issues with lather but I have really soft water in the house so...

Care and hygiene products become an important issue in the choice. Not every product is suitable for the skin and body's perception. That's why even this is worth taking seriously and choosing quality, proven products. Good care options are offered by this site . Here you can find good products not only in quality but also in price, given the frequent discounts. Among this variety, you can easily find the right soap, shampoo, or something else. I hope I was helpful to you.

Interesting that you mention toilet paper. I also prefer the premium and expensive comfy bum but I tried the cheaper store brand last time and OMG, I might just keep it aside to set my bevels on.

If you can't notice a substantial difference between two products then you do have the option to pay less.

None of the above means anything if you have the means to buy what you want when you want without a worry to cost. Obviously that is fair too.

I tend to go for scent over lather, I just spend longer getting it how I like it. I don't know if most of my soaps need post shave balm, but I always choose my soaps based on whether I can buy the matching post shave and beard oil at the same time.

For me its theme shaves, I really don't like a shaving soap that's standalone and I only smell while shaving but it's gone as soon as I have finished and dried.

Saying that my theme preference makes my shaving soaps with the balm and beard oil more expensive obviously, not as expensive as MDC but then MDC doesn't meet my theme criteria and although it's undoubtedly great stuff, but doesn't really interest me.

More importantly, how do you shave?

Recently, products containing natural ingredients have become very popular. It is believed that they positively affect the body and are less likely to cause allergic reactions.

As the thread has been revived anyway:

    Yes, I agree.
When people discuss how hard/easy it is to lather with MWF, they hardly mention water hardness.
When I was still based with the airline in Dubai, MWF lathered reasonably well (but not superbly). After retirement we moved to Coimbra, Portugal and here it lathers like a champ with the superb local water.

But I never bothered taking MWF with me on layover flights where I wasn’t sure how hard the water at the destination was.
The ceramic bowl that MWF is sold in is also not that well suited for travelling.

For these trips, Haslinger Schafmilch worked much better, as it seemed to be impervious to water hardness (and also came in that little tin can with screw top) and comes fairly close to MWF.

As a side note, too much lanolin/glycerin is also not ideal, as too much of it will make the razor slippery.
Don’t want to have that 6/8 Aust fall on my toes, do we???
(Maybe that is the true reason the safety razor was named as such… )

I tried them, and I think they are amazing and easy to use, and the result is exceptional.
