I miss the QED scents soooo much. I had the Wild Rose and Violetta too. Both outstanding. And the vetiver. And and and... soooo many good scents.
The closest I've had to QED Wild Rose is the Cyril Salter cream and the Le Pere Lucien Rose de Pushkar. Still on the hunt for a vetiver although I just got some Catie's Bubbles 322 aftershave which has got that same strong earthy vetiver scent as the QED vetiver soap.
I had a sample of MDC which reminded me of the QED Rose Geranium, but not as strong.
If I had some QED, I'd be using it."But you're not as confused as him are you. I mean, it's not your job to be as confused as Nigel. "

Thanked: 171I2FIMI when pple throw arnd ABBRVs thinking evry1 shud know them.
Translated:
I too find it mildly irritating when people throw around abbreviations, thinking everyone should know them.
If the purpose of this forum, or indeed the purpose of language, is to communicate, it would be gentlemanly to only use those abbreviations that everybody understands.
Alternatively, one might use the first time in a text the full word followed by the abbreviation in brackets. That’s an accepted standard when writing technical texts and ensures no one is ‘lost in translation’.
Otherwise, one might think the author is trying to impress people with his ostensible insider knowledge of abbreviations, when in truth it is thoughtlessness at best and lack of civility at worst.

TGQ waz great for scents but the quality of the soap was lacking IMO. It would fade away/vanish as fast as some of the cheap soaps Ive tried.
I do enjoy artisan soaps. It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 171
I tried many ‘artisan soaps’, but in the end none of them passed the test of time because most of them were just not as good as what I had already.
That is artisan soaps in the sense of home-made, small scale products, but the ‘artisan’ definition is vague, some soaps made in small batches are made to order by third party established commercial manufacturers, and then again someone might call Mitchell’s ‘artisan’ (see below and decide ) when even Saponificio Varesino S.r.l. (Ltd.) call their product ‘Men’s Artisan Shaving Soap’.

Thanked: 603In this instance, "QED" is not an abbreviation. It is the short-form of the shaving product-line/emporium: QEDman and QEDusa, respectively. You might be confusing it with the Latin, Quod Erat Demonstrandum -- "[that] which was to be demonstrated". I cannot speak for Charles, the founder/owner/operator of QEDusa, but I would guess it's a mild self-indulgence on his part; and, TBH (To Be Honest), people here on SRP (Sharp Razor Palace, formerly Straight Razor Place), B&B (Badger & Blade), and other wetshaving forums know that to be true: QED shaving soaps do demonstrate how good a shaving soap can be.
OTOH (On The Other Hand), "TGQ" is an abbeviation... for The Gentlemen's Quarter. As with QED[man] shaving soaps (and other products), users here and elsewhere know-of and have used TGQ shaving soaps (and creams, and other non-shaving products) since the early-to-mid 2000s.
Unfortunately, QEDman shaving soaps are no longer in-production, and TGQ has closed its doors. More's the pity.
Smooth shaving! You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
