Mitchell's Wool Fat
I thought I'd give Mitchell's Wool Fat soap a try since it's made in the UK, and there are loads of folks talking about it over on B&B.
It arrived here this morning. I ordered the soap in the ceramic dish which looks nice but costs a lot more than buying just the puck, in hindsight I'd probably have just order a puck but there we are, the dish looks nice.
The soap itsself is unscented as far as I can tell, it just smells clean and 'soapy', very pleasant. It's rich in Lanolin, and is apparently a formula first sold in 1893.
Anyway I gave it a try this morning, and it was great. I think it's about the best soap I've used to date. It lathers up easily, and gives a super comfortable shave. After the shave I had no irritation whatsoever and also my skin felt like it didn't need anything else on it, a/s balm or splash etc.
Anyway it gets the thumbs up from me, give it a try if you haven't already.
In the USA you can get it from http://www.leesrazors.com/shavingSoaps.htm and probably other places too.
In Europe, well I bought mine from http://connaughtshaving.com/index.html so I can recommend them.

I got mine a few days ago from Lee's (great service BTW). I also ordered it with the ceramic. I like the ceramic a lot. Wouldn't change that.
So far three great shaves. I also don't get any scent off it either (but I don't smell much of anything from any of the soaps I have.... Which is fine by me). Easy to lather with a CE Super and the lather lasts in the brush though out the shave, nice and moist. Shave was among the closest I've had with no irritation. I did follow up with a splash of Pinaud just to close things up.
Highly recommended. I don't know if, long term, it will displace my L'Occitane.... time will tell.

MWF is, in my opinion, a great shaving soap. I'm a bit driven by scent though. I don't reach for MWF as often as I do some of my other top notch soaps because of that.

There is a seller on ebay: Kentbrushes , who sells the Kent shaving soap in a wooden bowl.
This is the same soap is it not? I've seen this soap listed as Kent/Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap. If this is indeed the same soap, It's super cheap at Kentbrushes store. Somewhere between Eight and Ten bucks shipped as I recall.
Anyways, check it out, cause I seem to remember this is the same soap.

So my memory was correct... but only partly.
The price is actually more like $20.00 after shipping costs (to the United States) on the Kent soap.
Still, if interested in what is being talked about as a great soap, check the ebay store on this one. Uber-Cheapness.
Cheers
