Alternatives to AoS Balm
Well it's been about a year (Winter 2006) since I used the Art of Shaving balms. Whilst I think they are great, being alcohol-free, contain essential oils, not very greasy and absorb easily, I think they can be a tad expensive. Therefore, I was wondering if someone can recommend an alternative to them, although I am not looking for an 'el cheapo' version. I have used some moisturisers and lotions as alternatives, but nothing I've seen has the same properties as the AoS, especially as a product for use during the winter months.

Thanked: 1I've used this from Origins a couple times. I like it. Fresh scent that doesn't linger too long. Face is nice and smooth after, and cuts any razor burn quite nicely.
As an aside, I didn't like their shave cream, but the face scrub, and pre-shave oil are both nice as well.
I haven't even looked at any of the AoS stuff, so I don't know if the price is less or not.

Thanked: 1Well, I just did a quick search over @ AoS, and I guess their price is about the same oz for oz...

Thanks, RichZ. That's what they recommended to me on the B&B forum. Anyone know where I can go get a sample from (in the UK)?

I really like the Proraso Liquid Cream a/s balm. Its very light and non-greasy with a clean scent. You also might want to check out Mama Bear's a/s balms. I've heard good things about them.
