Thanked: 416I think 75 would be outside my price range as well! Over on the BB I noticed they were talking about doing their group by as part tubs and part shave sticks to give people a lower cost alternative to the tubs. Would something like that be possible here?

Yeah....75 is a bit rich. I would finally pull the trigger on the Castle Forbes before i dish out 75 on a soap

$50 SEAMS (BUTT NUTS) FOR A GROUP BUY FOR A FORUM OF OUR SIZE!
I WAS IN FOR THE FIRST SRP RAZOR FOR UNDER $150.00 PERHAPS $139.00 i DON'T REMEMBER. SOAP FOR A THIRD OR MORE OF THAT PRICE ?? I DON'T GET IT EVEN WITH INFLATION AND RECENT DOLLAR DEVALUATION.
FIFTY DOLLARS FOR SCENTED GLYCERINE SOAP AND ULTRA PREMIUM MYSTRO LIVI RAZORS ARE GROUP LIMITING!
THESE ARE NOT ATAINABLE BY THE BOTTOM ECONOMIC PART OF THE MEMBERS.
IT LEAVES A BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH. I'VE BEEN A MEMBER SINCE THE CHILD HOOD OF THE YAHOO FORUM. AND A PROUD MEMBER OWNING #23 SRP TI GROUP RAZOR. (GENERALLY AFFORDABLE).
I WISH THAT GROUP ECONOMICS WERE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION WITH THESE RECENT CHOICES.FOOD FOR THOUGHT FOR THE FUTURE.
iN MY OPINION A GROUP BUY WOULD MEAN A GREAT BARGIAN! WHAT AM I MISSING?

Thanked: 351Well, I was all set for Jasmine but at $75 I'd have to pass.... I think that Charles' suggestion of Tea Tree has caught my interest, I could go for that. Tobacco is a non starter for me, but I'm still game for a Rose or Lemon Verbena.

Thanked: 9Hm, good points. $75 is getting pretty expensive for a glycerine soap (I wanted rose EO anyway, but the point is it would have been expensive too) and it does seem that groups here and B&B are springing for some high value options which really exclude many members...
I don't have the answer myself. Sure, we want many members, ideally all willing, to participate. Then again, seems many here want as good a deal on a premium razor / product as possible. Maybe we should call these what they are - a *group* buy for the members of the community who have higher disposable incomes, or the right priorities?
Not an easy answer...

there's always the other $50 option with rose, however anything in this price range is likely to be unfeasible. isn't there a min of 50 for a group buy?
even if you add the votes for rose and jasmine these don't make 50 and i doubt that there will be enough other votes to make up for the difference. it is a lot of money for a soap and while a couple of rose-freaks like ivo, jim and i may be willing to do it, it's not inclusive enough for a SRP-labeled group buy.
this being said i think an unusual scent in the QED's normal price range is the way to go. Most of the members can afford it and the exclusiveness will come from the unusual scent.

Thanked: 9good idea, Ivan - I would consider a nice whiskey (or something else) scent for a group buy at a reasonable price
but my skin is sensitive to some of Charles' FO-based soaps, so I am not sure I'll be able to use it
Cheers

yuck, that's true, forgot about the problems with FO's...
since ivo is also using alt innsbruck w/o problems, may be we should take the risk with the allergy concerns and do tobacco.
i say make it whiskey-tobacco, add some pink dye and some sterling silver glitter to balance the masculinity and provide exfolliation and call it a day.
