You could just use a cheese grater to grate the soap into a container of your choice. Then just press it in. No need for heating.

Thanked: 13234You might want to check out the thread "Shave Den Again !!!"
There is quite a bit of info there
The microwave method does work for glycerin based soaps but the soap mistress's here don't recommend it because of some of the low flash points of some of the scents... In other words you can wreck the scent...

I've heard of the milled soaps being melted after put in a bag in boiling water but never in a microwave.
As a matter of fact,I have tried it in the micro and it isn't pretty.

Thanked: 3Somewhere I read someone suggesting melting glycerin soap in a microwave for TWO minutes. That is way too long! I ended up with melted soap and its plastic container(Col Conk) flowing out of the microwave. After that experience I tried about 10 seconds and it worked ok. I now have Col Conk soap fitting nicely in glass bowls with covers that I bought at Target. Monitoring the soap in the microwave while it is melting is essential as I learned the hard way.

No disrespect, but I'd like proof. Got any pictures? "Hard" soaps don't melt. They bubble up into something that is not pretty!
I no longer melt ANY type of soap. After having been told by more than one soap maker that doing this can compromise the integrity of the soap, I called it quits.
