Unscented post shave moisturizer?
Hi All:
Please help with some suggestions of a great post shave moisturizer. Here are the criteria (if it exists) that I'd like to have the moisturizer meet:
- Unscented
- Non-greasy and won't give a shiny look.
- Won't clog pores ("non-comedogenic")
- non-irritating (I know this is a subjective issue varying on the individual and that one cream could not make a blanket claim to this but your personal experience will help).
- Won't aggravate minor razor burn (I know, I know, work on my shaving technique, prep and shave with sharp razors and this would be a non-issue).
I tried a few drops of pure glycerin mixed with a bit of water in the palm of my hands as an aftershave tonight. Had quite a bit of burn around my chin area. MAN did my razor burn start to turn red fast, quite red. I washed that stuff off right away.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanked: 12the body shop aftershave balm (scented or unscented) or nivea after shave balm (sensitive)
I think that an after shave balm would be much better as they generally have moisturising properties in them and are designed for this sort of thingLast edited by keljian; 02-04-2008 at 08:08 PM.

I use a bottle of Oil Of Olay facial moistureizer. It's unscented, isn't oily, and doesn't clog pores. As an added bonus, it claims to have SPF 15.
I don't know how it comes in the store because I don't buy it, but the bottle says
Olay Complete on the front, as well as All day moisture lotion spf 15 light, non greasy, and below that is Normal. 4.0 fl ounces per bottle.
I also have pretty sensitive skin, and it hasn't irradiated my skin yet!

Also, be careful to fully hydrate pure glycerin before you put it on razor burn, as it loves to suck up moisture and can irritate already irritated skin by trying to pull water out of microscopic cuts and such!

I use Thayer's Witch Hazel with aloe added. I
think they may sell an unscented one.

You learn how to deal with the bumps, burn, cuts, nicks, gashes, and other such fun facial features post shave by using electrics and cheap cartridges. I feel I'm already ready for anything a straight can throw at me, aside from cleaving a whole cheek off or cutting into any facial tendons. A couple years of cleaning up my friends after fights in the Bronx, and working as an EMT in Vermont has me ready to shave!

I have some of this on order from a local store actually. It's the alcohol free with aloe. I'll see how that works when I get it.
I'll say that I bought a cheap bottle of witch hazel which contains alcohol, and it works well to reduce irritation, but it REALLY dries out my face until my face is powdery dry, uncomfortably so. Must be the alcohol?

You will love the witch hazel with aloe. I use it; let it soak in a bit then follow with a good quality moisturizer.
In addition; raw spots can be hit with a bit of vitamin e oil.
This regimine works very well for me.
Alternatively: use the Tiger after shave balm or Mama Bears Winter balm.
I still need a moisturizer following.
