Default Blix is found, Lather at 11

It was probably based on threads here and others that were extoling the virtues of BLIX..so that
I HAD to get my hands on some..My search for the ever elusive BLIX took me to many places that is best not spoken of...Least till after therapy..
VOILA! I found some to be had...IN BRITAIN.....BRITAIN, I SAY to you!!!
Then I discover that it's cheap and is in assorted flavors.
Tonight I'm able to choose betwixt a tube of BLIX Regular and Blix Fresh.
Not an overly impressive packaging in the tubes. The bright colored tubes have my interest and set up an anticipation for the shave.
THe SETTING: I'm at the YMCA Shower room. a nice spacious place to try a BLIX SHAVE FOR TOM'S Betterment for the first BLIX time, Hot water cascading everywhere. The Simpson Chubby 1 in Best is sucking up some water..It's in hydration HEAVEN.
My porcelaine lather bowl is being preheated with the cascading goodliness. I can set up a bench to hold my toothbrush, soap, shower stuff, Loofa (hand size), 1952 Gillette Superspeed with Derby blade. I have the closed tube of BLIX FREESH preheating with the bowl, brush and BLIX. Issy's 100% Olive Oil soap, alum bar and magnetic back plastic mirror completes the field.

I hop in the shower and put the heat on HIGH. The steam is starting to float on out of the shower head amidst a heavy rainfall of HOT water.
I open the BLIX Fresh, empty the bowl of water used to preheat it's contents.
Squeeze a smallish snurdle of Blix Fresh onto the hot bottom of the bowl.
I wring my fully hydrated Simpson Chubby 1 best Brush and I start to make lather. I oft times compare myself to a music conductor when I make lather.
    OH!
The melodious notes of the brush crashing down on the bowl. Smashing, almost to atoms, the wee snurgle of BLIX Fresh.
The tune is taking off....crescendoes and swirls....swirls and pumps...ALL with but one goal ...to make lather...The lather is forming as the crescendo of lather motions births a sort of animate life into the cream.
The cream is slow to expand and firm up. I dribble a drop of water and it bursts into lather BLOOM.
I look at the newly birthed lather in the porcelaine bowl and am a bit disappointed.. I expected more substance to the mounds of lovely lubricity. So I was immediately worried. The whole energy of this lathering was changed. ANd not for the best.
OH MY! How is this going to affect the very heart and soul of the lather????
The shower has been on all this while water is tintinabulating against my muscles and skin with beats of water song. I raise the lather laden badger symbol of power and grind, twirl, swirl, dab, pump, and paint the lather on my face.
BUT LOOK...Look what has happened to the lather.
THe BLIX Fresh lather is not a weakkneed one at all. It is robust with the vitamin e links to lubricity.
I revel in the sensations that the lather is evoking on my face.
Cushiony, lubricatedly firm and yet, yielding. a VERY slight scense of menthol. I was intending to get hit with a pretty good blast of menthol..Once again this shave is not meeting my expectations.
I close my eyes and start the composition of Shaving with BLIX, OPUS number 1.
Eyes closed. senses heightened, razor makes contact with cheek. WOW! that wasn't very dynamic. I could hardly hear or feel the hair being removed.
But as a rinse would show..Beard reduction of a textbook manner..Hmmm this is cool...There is a turning of the shaving ship to calm waters.
With my eyes closed and three passes and rinses I now unveil to the world Tom OBRIEN BBS.
I alum, then witch hazel, after dried I apply Floris Elite EDT.
Breaking down and cleaning the instruments to my performance tonight I notice that the tonsorial notes we played have gone , but there is a definite calm that remains. Face is smooth and silky..

I was hoping to get this depth and dimension of a shave from a BLIX but with a more dynamic lather..
All is well with this Cream. It does it's job COMMENDABLY
I ordered the Blix Fresh and Regular from connaughtshaving.com/blix.html

Ordered four packs of 65 gram cream for four pounds. shipping was ~ the same. Order arrived quickly and easily.
So not VERY expensive and you get a cracker of a shave cream for that money. You'll be pleased with the shave that you conduct for your face felicity. A BARGAIN.
    Tom

    Hahahaha
And I thank you all for reading thru it. MOST people don't read much.
There is a BLIX cream...Made by FAX..same folk who make Arkos, I'm told.
It is a very nice shave cream. It's least expensive for our over the water brethren...

    I did like that shave

While normally I prefer the forum posts I read to be much shorter than that, the extremely evident passion made it rather engrossing. It reminds me of the Looney Toons bit with Bugs and Elmer Fudd doing an opera. Ride of the Valkyries, I think. In fact, I was playing that in my head the whole time reading your post. It made it extremely dramatic.

It was called What's Opera Doc, and is my favourite BB cartoon.
